This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Accounting Advisory Director based in the United States.
This is a senior leadership opportunity within a growing Transaction Advisory Services environment, focused on complex accounting advisory engagements for private equity and corporate clients.
You will lead projects involving purchase accounting, opening balance sheets, purchase price adjustments, and other transaction-related accounting matters.
The role combines deep technical accounting expertise with client leadership, team development, and practice-building responsibilities.
You will work directly with executive-level stakeholders, attorneys, management teams, and transaction professionals to resolve complex issues and deliver actionable insights.
Beyond engagement delivery, you will help shape new service offerings, strengthen client relationships, and identify opportunities for broader advisory support.

Travel is expected to be minimal, with less than 5% anticipated as needed for client engagements.
Accountabilities:
- Lead complex accounting advisory engagements for private equity and corporate clients, with a primary focus on purchase accounting under ASC 805, opening balance sheet matters, and purchase price adjustments.
- Oversee the collection and analysis of transaction data, including purchase agreements, transaction mechanics, and information required for purchase accounting and purchase price adjustment analyses.
- Apply contractual provisions and transaction terms to opening balance sheets and price adjustment mechanisms, ensuring technically sound and practical conclusions.
- Lead discussions with target company management, attorneys, executives, and other stakeholders to obtain information, resolve issues, communicate findings, and keep engagements progressing.
- Review and oversee the work of Senior Associates and Managers, maintaining high-quality deliverables, effective delegation, consistent review practices, and timely project completion.
- Advise clients on post-closing disputes and other transaction-related accounting matters, as well as accounting investigations, internal controls, audit support, technical accounting memoranda, and broader finance-related advisory projects.
- Contribute to the continued development of the Accounting Advisory practice by evaluating potential service offerings, improving delivery processes, and identifying opportunities to scale capabilities.
- Strengthen existing client relationships and support business development through internal collaboration, cross-selling, marketplace visibility, and external relationship building.
- Collaborate with leaders across Transaction Advisory Services and other service areas to identify complementary solutions and address broader client needs.
- Mentor, coach, and develop team members while helping build a scalable, collaborative, and high-performing accounting advisory team.
- Support proposals, client-facing initiatives, and market-facing activities that contribute to practice growth and increased visibility.
- Manage multiple engagements and competing priorities while maintaining strong client service, technical quality, and adherence to deadlines.
Requirements:
- 8–10+ years of experience in audit, financial reporting, accounting advisory, or a related financial services environment.
- Strong technical accounting expertise, with demonstrated ability to independently research and resolve complex accounting matters.
- Significant experience with purchase accounting, purchase price adjustments, and related transaction advisory engagements, preferably with the ability to lead projects with limited oversight.
- Current and comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, particularly ASC 805 and ASC 810, with familiarity with M&A processes and transaction environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; professional certification such as CPA, CFA, or CFE is preferred or may be required based on experience.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong ability to perform detailed financial analysis and work with complex transaction data.
- Proven experience managing, coaching, and developing teams, including delegating responsibilities, reviewing work, providing feedback, and building confidence in less experienced professionals.
- Demonstrated contribution to practice growth through business development, client relationship expansion, internal cross-selling, or development of new advisory services.
- Strong project management, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple engagements in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex accounting matters clearly to executives, clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt communication and leadership style to different audiences and levels of management.
- High level of initiative, professionalism, sound judgment, and ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Comfortable managing unexpected issues and shifting priorities while maintaining quality and client-service standards.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to client sites, with expected travel below 5%.
