This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Accounting Manager - Slavic Gospel Association (SGA) based in the United States.
This is a remote Accounting Manager opportunity with periodic travel to Loves Park, Illinois, supporting the financial operations of a mission-driven nonprofit organization.
The role serves as the technical accounting leader, overseeing daily accounting activities and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
You will manage close processes, financial reporting, cash management, internal controls, compliance, and audit preparation.
The position combines hands-on accounting expertise with team leadership, process improvement, and cross-functional partnership.
You will help strengthen accounting systems and reporting capabilities while supporting sound organizational stewardship.
The successful candidate will bring strong nonprofit and fund accounting knowledge, excellent judgment, and a servant-hearted leadership approach.

Accountabilities:
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and well-controlled financial processes.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and financial records while overseeing cash management, interfund activity, contributions processing, accounts payable, and related accounting functions.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and applicable nonprofit accounting standards.
- Develop financial reports, analyses, and supporting schedules for executive leadership and the Board.
- Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting activities, providing financial insights to inform organizational decision-making.
- Coordinate the annual external audit, including preparation of audit schedules, supporting documentation, and responses to auditor requests.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, procedures, and financial compliance processes.
- Support ECFA financial reporting and stewardship requirements in partnership with senior finance leadership.
- Maintain and optimize Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and related accounting systems, using tools such as Jet Reports and Excel to improve reporting and analysis.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, documentation, efficiency, controls, and operational continuity.
- Supervise, coach, and develop accounting team members while promoting accountability, collaboration, cross-training, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a trusted technical accounting resource and partner to organizational leadership.
- Participate in the spiritual and collaborative life of the organization, including staff prayer and chapel, while supporting its mission and ministry priorities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; a CPA designation is strongly preferred, or equivalent technical expertise demonstrated through significant nonprofit accounting experience.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
- Strong nonprofit and fund accounting experience, including experience preparing audited financial statements and working directly with external auditors.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and nonprofit accounting practices.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a comparable ERP system is preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with Jet Reports or similar financial reporting tools are a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, integrity, and the ability to balance accuracy with responsiveness.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across an organization.
- A proactive, continuous-improvement mindset and the ability to identify opportunities to strengthen systems and processes.
