This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Advanced Field Service Engr based in India.
This role provides advanced field and factory support for complex rotating equipment and associated control systems.
You will work directly with customers and channel partners on installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment rebuilds.
The position combines hands-on mechanical and electrical expertise with process-control knowledge and structured failure analysis.
You will play a key role in identifying equipment issues, validating root causes, and improving service reliability and product performance.
The role also involves technical reporting, warranty assessment, customer training, and mentoring less experienced engineers.
Success requires strong independent judgment, technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to demanding customer environments.
Frequent travel, including international field assignments, makes this an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer seeking a highly practical and customer-facing role.
Accountabilities
- Travel to customer sites to support installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, troubleshooting, servicing, and rebuilding of API and non-API pumps and compressors in accordance with OEM and API specifications.
- Supervise customer craft personnel during field activities, ensuring work is performed safely, accurately, and to required technical standards.
- Diagnose complex rotating-equipment issues involving mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and process-related factors.
- Analyze equipment hardware, operating conditions, and failure modes to determine whether components and systems meet OEM requirements.
- Troubleshoot control systems using PLC and control-logic expertise and verify correct configuration and operation of equipment.
- Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis activities in collaboration with internal engineering teams, customers, and channel partners.
- Perform independent warranty evaluations at customer locations and on returned equipment to determine whether failures qualify for warranty coverage.
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive field reports, service documentation, timesheets, and travel and expense reports within required timelines.
- Create and manage service cases in Microsoft CRM and coordinate responses to customer and channel-partner service requests.
- Communicate professionally with customers, channel partners, internal technical teams, and other stakeholders throughout service engagements.
- Deliver customer and channel-partner training through factory-based sessions and provide technical guidance during field activities.
- Mentor junior Field Service Engineers and help develop their capabilities in service procedures, troubleshooting, and OEM/API requirements.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures, complete required safety training, and maintain high standards of field-service compliance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives involving equipment reliability, service practices, processes, and technical solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant field experience; alternatively, a two-year technical degree with 7+ years of experience or 5+ years of relevant field experience without a degree.
- Demonstrated experience with PLCs, control logic, rotating equipment, mechanical systems, or related industrial technologies.
- Strong understanding of process-control equipment and the ability to interpret P&ID drawings when troubleshooting field issues.
- Experience working with cause-and-effect diagrams, P&IDs, API seal plans, and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to apply GD&T principles to evaluate components against OEM specifications.
- Familiarity with American Petroleum Institute standards is preferred.
- Previous experience with domestic and international travel and customer-facing field service assignments.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root-cause problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent technical writing skills, including the preparation of service reports and RCFA documentation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the professionalism required to work directly with customers and channel partners.
- Ability to work independently in the field, exercise sound judgment, and manage priorities with limited supervision.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the flexibility to manage multiple assignments and competing priorities.
- Ability and willingness to train and mentor junior engineers.
- Curiosity, adaptability, and a continuous-learning mindset when working with new equipment, technologies, and customer environments.
- Experience with CAD applications such as AutoCAD, NX, or SolidWorks is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of oil and gas, chemical, or related industrial environments is desirable.
