You will shape category growth strategies by combining shopper insights, commercial dynamics, market intelligence, and emerging tools.
The role serves as a trusted strategic partner to a leading retailer’s merchandising organization and helps define joint business priorities.

Accountabilities:
- Lead shopper and category strategy: Drive continuous improvement of category growth processes and champion innovative tools, approaches, and capabilities that shape the future of Beauty & Personal Care.
- Partner with retail merchandising: Act as a trusted strategic advisor to the retailer’s Beauty and Personal Care Merchandising organization, owning the strategic direction of key joint initiatives and opportunities.
- Lead cross-functional programs: Bring together internal stakeholders and external agency partners to deliver thought leadership, strategic recommendations, and high-impact programs across multiple workstreams.
- Define strategic growth opportunities: Integrate shopper, market, commercial, and consumer insights to establish short- and long-term positioning and translate findings into actionable execution plans and customer touchpoints.
- Turn insights into action: Move beyond traditional analysis by identifying emerging opportunities, applying strong strategic intuition, and converting complex information into decisive business recommendations.
- Build strategic relationships: Develop strong partnerships across cross-functional teams and customer stakeholders, proactively connecting business opportunities with strategic and tactical recommendations.
- Develop compelling storytelling: Combine quantitative data, shopper insights, and creative thinking to create executive-ready selling stories and category strategies that highlight growth opportunities.
- Develop people and culture: Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative culture while coaching, motivating, and developing team members and contributing to their professional growth.
Requirements
- Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree required, along with 10+ years of experience in Category Management, Customer Management, Consumer Insights, Sales Strategy, or a closely related discipline.
- Industry expertise: Strong CPG and Beauty industry experience is required, with a demonstrated understanding of category dynamics, shoppers, retail environments, and commercial strategy.
- Executive communication: Proven ability to develop and present sophisticated strategic recommendations to senior executives and C-suite audiences with clarity, confidence, and compelling business storytelling.
- Data and insights expertise: Extensive experience working with data sources such as Nielsen/Circana, Scintilla, panel providers, social listening and reviews platforms, and digital commerce data.
- Analytics-to-action capability: Strong ability to connect traditional analytics with emerging capabilities and tools to generate differentiated insights and translate them into commercially relevant actions.
- Cross-functional leadership: Demonstrated success leading complex, multi-workstream initiatives across diverse teams and managing external agency partners toward shared objectives.
- Strategic mindset: Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments, challenging conventional approaches, identifying future opportunities, and balancing strategic vision with practical execution.
- Relationship-building: Exceptional stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to establish trusted relationships across internal teams and major customer organizations.
- Preferred: MBA or other relevant advanced degree is preferred.
- Preferred: Previous experience working directly with Walmart or within a comparable large-scale retail environment is highly desirable.

- Base salary: $146,200–$219,400 annually, with final compensation determined by experience, skills, qualifications, education, and other business factors.
