Accountabilities:

• Lead, plan, and coordinate the work of Plan Document Coordinators, including assignments, production, quality, performance, and delivery against established timelines.
• Set clear team goals and objectives, monitor progress, and provide ongoing direction to ensure operational commitments are consistently met.
• Facilitate regular team meetings, maintain open communication channels, and communicate departmental priorities, status updates, risks, and escalations.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in benefit interpretation and plan documentation, providing guidance and recommendations that help mitigate business and compliance risk.
• Partner closely with Compliance and other enterprise stakeholders to interpret requirements and ensure plan documents accurately reflect applicable regulations and client needs.
• Collaborate with plan-building teams to align plan documents and system configurations, supporting accurate benefit administration and the highest practical level of automated claims adjudication.
• Manage personnel responsibilities, including mentoring, coaching, motivation, performance management, recognition, evaluations, feedback, and time tracking.
• Identify training and development needs and create opportunities that strengthen technical capabilities, operational knowledge, and career growth within the team.
• Provide hands-on operational support when workloads exceed team capacity, helping maintain service levels and delivery commitments.
• Establish and maintain accurate, current documentation, policies, procedures, and reference materials in shared repositories to support team development and onboarding.
• Participate in cross-functional initiatives, special projects, process improvements, and other strategic assignments as required.
• Promote an enterprise-wide perspective by encouraging collaboration across regions and functions and ensuring decisions support broader organizational objectives.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required; a college degree or advanced education in insurance or benefits is preferred.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in the healthcare, insurance, or employee benefits industry.
• At least 1 year of previous people-management experience, with demonstrated ability to coach, develop, motivate, and manage performance.
• Advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to healthcare and benefits administration.
• Demonstrated experience independently drafting, editing, proofreading, and maintaining standard and customized plan language.
• Strong understanding of plan design terminology and document structures, including definitions, eligibility, plan administration, benefits, claims, and appeals.
• Experience reading and interpreting contracts, statutes, regulations, and other compliance-related materials is preferred.
• Strong English grammar, composition, editing, and proofreading skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Advanced critical-thinking, analytical, investigation, and independent problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work effectively under pressure, make informed decisions, and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate meetings and communicate effectively with employees, clients, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
• Strong customer-service orientation and the ability to provide a high level of service to both internal and external customers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with legal, compliance, operations, client management, and other enterprise teams.
• Ability to develop creative solutions and resolve issues independently while balancing regulatory, operational, and client considerations.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to establish clear expectations and maintain accountability across a team.
• Relevant professional education or certifications such as CEBS, HIAA, or LOMA are a plus.
• Experience developing departmental policies and procedures is preferred.
• Ability to travel periodically to regional field offices.
• Must reside within the continental United States; Alaska, California, Hawaii, and New York are excluded from the remote work arrangement.
