The Associate Sales Manager will manage strategic customer relationships across the southern India market, with a strong focus on technical service and commercial growth.
The role combines account management, consultative selling, customer development, and technical expertise within industrial water treatment solutions.
You will build trusted relationships with senior decision-makers and influencers while understanding customer needs and connecting them with relevant products and services.
A key focus will be increasing account value, protecting existing revenue, improving price capture, and identifying opportunities to expand product adoption.
You will also contribute to demand generation and new business development where appropriate, while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
The position is suited to an experienced industry professional who can combine technical knowledge with commercial judgment and relationship-building skills.
Based in Bangalore, you will work with customers and internal teams in a dynamic environment where technical service and business growth are closely connected.
Accountabilities:
- Manage strategic accounts: Build and maintain long-term relationships with key customers, senior decision-makers, and influential stakeholders across assigned accounts and territories.
- Drive customer value: Deliver strong technical service and solutions that address customer needs, improve operations, and strengthen long-term partnerships.
- Develop sales opportunities: Identify, develop, and close new sales opportunities within existing accounts and relevant target markets.
- Increase account revenue: Grow revenue by expanding customer spend, increasing product adoption, and identifying opportunities to introduce additional products and services.
- Create market demand: Increase awareness and demand for products and services by communicating their value and aligning solutions with customer priorities.
- Engage senior stakeholders: Conduct regular account reviews, status meetings, and strategic discussions with customer leadership to understand business needs and align them with available solutions.
- Protect and grow existing business: Maintain revenue, improve price capture, and contribute to gross-profit improvement across assigned accounts.
- Identify product opportunities: Use technical and commercial knowledge to recognize opportunities for new product applications and recommend appropriate solutions to customers.
- Support new business development: Pursue new business opportunities when relevant, while maintaining the primary focus on existing account management and customer value creation.
- Collaborate internally: Coordinate with relevant technical, commercial, and service teams to ensure customer requirements are addressed effectively and opportunities are executed successfully.
Requirements:
- Professional experience: 10+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably in industrial, water treatment, chemical, or a closely related sector.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Master’s degree; a chemical engineering or broader chemical background is preferred.
- Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial applications and the ability to translate technical requirements into practical customer solutions.
- Account management: Demonstrated experience managing customer relationships, ideally involving senior-level stakeholders and strategic or major accounts.
- Commercial skills: Proven ability to identify sales opportunities, grow existing accounts, protect revenue, and contribute to profitability.
- Customer orientation: Strong relationship-building skills and a consultative approach focused on customer satisfaction and long-term value.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Strategic thinking: Ability to understand customer business needs, identify opportunities, and connect them with appropriate products and services.
- Independence: Comfortable managing an assigned territory and account portfolio while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Location: Willingness to work with customers across the southern India market, with Bangalore as the designated location.
