This role leads the Billing Operations function with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. You will manage end-to-end revenue cycle activities, including claims submission, payment posting, denial management, and account reconciliations. The position offers the opportunity to optimize billing workflows, implement automation, and drive process improvements while ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements. Accountabilities
- Lead and manage daily billing operations, including new customer setup, invoice and claims submission, payment posting, denial management, and accounts receivable follow-up
- Establish quality controls and monitor KPIs such as Days in AR, denial rates, and clean claim rates to ensure timely reimbursement
- Develop, enforce, and maintain billing policies, system controls, and compliance with payer guidelines and contracts
- Conduct internal post-billing audits to ensure billing integrity and regulatory compliance
- Identify operational gaps, implement process improvements, and standardize workflows to support growth
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to implement automation tools that increase efficiency and reduce manual effort
- Manage customer escalations and ensure exceptional service and resolution of billing inquiries
- Lead and develop the Billing Operations team, including mentoring, performance management, and career growth initiatives
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in healthcare, business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 7+ years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM) or billing operations, with at least 7 years in a leadership role
- Deep knowledge of RCM systems, payer management, denials analysis, and billing workflows
- Strong understanding of medical coding, EDI systems, and commercial and government payer compliance requirements
- Proven leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and translate complex billing issues into actionable strategies
- Data-driven with strong analytical, process improvement, and operational management skills
- Proficiency in Excel, Google Workspace, or BI reporting tools
- Experience with B2B and B2C billing, project management, and complex transformational initiatives is a plus
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, adapt to a fast-paced environment, and embrace technology-forward solutions
