This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Business Development Manager (Government Vertical) in India.
This role is a strategic, high-impact position focused on driving business growth across government and public sector organizations. You will be responsible for identifying and developing large-scale opportunities within Central and State Government departments, PSUs, defense, railways, and smart city projects. The role involves managing complex, long-cycle sales engagements that require strong stakeholder engagement and deep understanding of public procurement processes. You will work closely with internal technical, presales, and delivery teams to build winning proposals and ensure successful deal execution. In addition, you will collaborate with system integrators, OEMs, and partners to expand market reach and accelerate revenue growth. This is a highly relationship-driven role where your ability to navigate government ecosystems and influence decision-makers will directly impact business success.
Accountabilities:
- Drive business development initiatives targeting Government, PSU, defense, railways, and smart city accounts.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new opportunities within public sector organizations and related ecosystems.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, system integrators, OEMs, and channel partners.
- Develop strategic account plans and execute market penetration strategies to expand footprint in government sectors.
- Manage the full sales lifecycle including lead generation, proposal development, tender participation, negotiations, and closure.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as presales, technical, and delivery units to design solutions and prepare bid responses.
- Track government tenders across platforms like GeM, CPPP, and other procurement portals.
- Ensure compliance with government procurement guidelines and tender requirements throughout the sales process.
- Achieve revenue targets and manage forecasting, reporting, and payment follow-ups.
Requirements:
- 5–10 years of experience in government or PSU sales and business development.
- Strong understanding of government procurement processes, tendering systems, and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience working with system integrators, OEMs, and channel partners in enterprise or public sector deals.
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, networking, surveillance, data centers, or managed services is preferred.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex accounts and long sales cycles independently.
- Existing relationships within government departments or PSUs will be a strong advantage.
- Highly organized, self-driven, and comfortable working in a target-driven environment.
