This role offers the opportunity to manage and resolve complex commercial auto claims involving both bodily injury (BI) and property damage (PD). The Commercial Auto Liability Adjuster will investigate losses, evaluate liability, negotiate settlements, and ensure compliance with state regulations. You will collaborate with other adjusters, litigation teams, and clients to provide timely, accurate claim resolutions. This position requires strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, along with the ability to handle multiple claims simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Remote work is supported, with occasional travel for meetings, training, or trials. Your contributions will directly impact client satisfaction and operational efficiency within the claims process.
Accountabilities
- Investigate, evaluate, and resolve commercial auto BI and PD claims in accordance with state regulations and company best practices
- Manage a range of claims from low-exposure to complex losses, including semi-tractors, tankers, dry vans, reefers, and flatbed trailers
- Analyze facts of loss, obtain statements, review documentation, and assess damages to determine liability
- Collaborate with other adjusters, coverage teams, and litigation personnel to coordinate claim handling and resolution
- Negotiate settlements within assigned authority while assessing risk transfer and insurance priority issues
- Draft detailed internal and client-facing reports, including reserve recommendations and claim strategies
- Refer claims to subrogation or special investigation units (SIU) as appropriate
- Maintain required adjuster licenses across applicable states and stay current with regulatory requirements
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience handling commercial auto BI and PD claims, preferably within a TPA or insurance carrier
- Familiarity with semi-tractors, tankers, dry vans, reefers, flatbeds, and personal auto claims
- Strong knowledge of state insurance regulations and claim procedures
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a remote environment
- Flexibility to travel occasionally for business needs, training, or trials
