This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director of Finance in the United States.
This role leads the financial backbone of a fast-growing, mission-driven organization operating at the intersection of technology, public policy, and financial services. As Director of Finance, you will own financial execution, forecasting, and reporting while serving as a strategic partner to the executive leadership team. You will play a critical role in shaping long-term strategy, supporting board and investor initiatives, and preparing the organization for its next phase of growth. This position blends hands-on operational ownership with high-level strategic influence. Operating in a remote-first environment, you will help build scalable financial infrastructure, strengthen controls, and enable data-driven decision-making across the business.
Accountabilities:
- Lead company-wide financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and scenario modeling to support growth and resource allocation
- Act as the day-to-day finance partner to the executive team, translating strategic priorities into clear financial plans and actionable insights
- Build, maintain, and own financial models and reporting to support executive decision-making, product investments, organizational tradeoffs, and fundraising scenarios as needed
- Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, employee reimbursements, corporate cards, cash management, and the monthly close process
- Prepare and deliver monthly financial reporting for leadership and support quarterly board and investor reporting
- Strengthen financial controls, approval workflows, and spend governance across contracts, payments, and operating expenses
- Manage and hold external partners accountable, including controllers, bookkeepers, auditors, and tax advisors
- Develop detailed team-, product-, and revenue-level reporting to improve visibility into performance, unit economics, cost of sales, and sales efficiency
Requirements:
- 8+ years of progressive experience in finance, including FP&A, forecasting, and operational finance
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; a Master’s degree is preferred
- Experience working in a VC-backed SaaS, fintech, benefits, or GovTech environment, ideally including at least one scaled startup
- Strong financial modeling skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, decision-ready insights
- Hands-on experience managing accounting operations and coordinating with external finance partners
- Solid understanding of GAAP, with experience supporting revenue recognition in a SaaS or recurring-revenue business; familiarity with ASC 606 is strongly preferred
- Builder mindset with comfort creating structure, improving processes, and operating effectively in ambiguous environments
- Strong judgment, communication, and stakeholder management skills across executive and non-finance audiences
- Background in consulting, venture capital, investment banking, or enterprise finance prior to startups is a plus
- CPA is a plus, but not required
Benefits:
- Competitive base salary in the range of $160,000–$190,000, plus equity participation
- Fully remote, U.S.-based work environment
- 100% employer-covered medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) plan with 3% company match, fully vested from day one
- Home office setup reimbursement
- Monthly lunch credits
- Direct employer contributions toward student loan repayment
- Up to 11 paid holidays plus flexible paid time off
- Paid leave for family, health, and personal needs
- Annual in-person team events and retreats
