KPFF Seattle’s Structural Team specializes in the design of buildings that serve and inspire communities. Located in downtown Seattle, our Structural Engineering team is seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineering Designer. This position will provide the opportunity for you to dive headfirst into real-world projects from day one. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to a variety of building project types and materials ; as well as:
- Gain hands-on experience while learning directly from licensed structural engineers.
- Perform structural analysis and design of building components and systems using industry-standard software under supervision.
- Contribute to the development of 3-D BIM models and construction documents including communicating with project drafters, structural detailing, and multidisciplinary BIM coordination.
- Apply core engineering principles and advanced mathematical techniques to tackle real-world challenges.
- Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Build expertise in navigating building and material specific codes, , while aligning with KPFF’s and our clients’ standards and practices.
- Join client meetings and site visits to gain exposure to project development and stakeholder engagement.
- Participate in KPFF’s Forefront program, our commitment to mentorship, lifelong learning, and career development.

Minimum Qualifications:
- An ABET accredited master's degree with an emphasis on structural engineering (MSCE/MSE)
- 0-4 years’ experience working under a licensed professional engineer
- Coursework and/or familiarity with reinforced concrete, structural steel, wood, masonry, and/or post-tensioned concrete for primarily building structures

Physical Demands:
- Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.
- Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
- Occasionally visiting project and construction sites may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.
- Traveling to project sites or client meetings, which may involve driving or flying.
Compensation:
The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected range for a qualified candidate is $80,400 - $100,000 annually.
