Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized Paralegal with at least 5 years of experience to support our General Counsel in Miami. The role focuses on providing high-level paralegal support in discovery, corporate transactions, compliance, contract management, regulatory affairs, and litigation related to the automotive sector—including vehicle sales, financing, leasing, warranties, dealership operations, and potential auto-related claims or disputes. This position plays a key role in ensuring legal compliance, risk mitigation, and efficient operations in a fast-paced, high-volume industry.
Key Responsibilities
•Assist with the preparation, review, and organization of legal documents, including but not limited to: asset purchase agreements, leases, bank agreements, vendor/supplier agreements, and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).
•Assist with corporate governance matters, such as maintaining entity records, preparing board/minutes materials, and supporting mergers, acquisitions, or dealership expansions.
•Conduct legal research on multi-state statutes/regulations (e.g., motor vehicle laws, consumer protection, lemon law, DMV requirements, FTC rules, and auto finance compliance).
•Support litigation efforts when needed, including preparing discovery responses, organizing case files, coordinating with external counsel, managing subpoenas, and handling auto-related liability or insurance defense matters.
•Maintain and organize legal databases, contract repositories, and filing systems, track deadlines, renewals, and compliance obligations.
•Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., finance, sales, HR, compliance) and external parties (e.g., lenders, insurers, regulators, vendors) to facilitate document execution and resolve issues.
•Assist in risk management by identifying potential legal exposures in dealership transactions or operations and recommending mitigation strategies.
•Prepare reports, summaries, and presentations for senior management or legal counsel on ongoing matters.
•Ensure all activities comply with federal, state (Florida, Virginia, Illinois, New Jersey and California), and local laws applicable to the automotive industry.
Qualifications & Requirements
•Minimum 5 years of paralegal experience; prior work in automotive, dealership environment strongly preferred.
•Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, or equivalent legal experience required.
•Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Teams); experience with contract management software (e.g., DocuSign, SharePoint) a plus.
•Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills with high attention to detail in a high-volume environment.
•Superior written and verbal communication skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
•Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
•Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently or collaboratively in a hybrid environment, including in a in-person, virtual, as well as in a team, setting.
•Reliable transportation when needed.
•Able to travel, if required.
Added Value Skills
•Strong knowledge of motor vehicle laws, consumer finance regulations, and contract law in at least one of the following states: Florida, Virginia, New Jersey, Illinois and/or California.
•Familiarity with auto industry-specific issues (e.g., title transfers, liens, repossessions, lemon law claims, or warranty disputes).
•Knowledge of compliance programs (e.g., FTC Red Flags, Safeguards, OFAC, TILA, FCRA, ECOA, EEOC).
•Accounting experience/background.
