The Associate Counsel of Business & Legal Affairs position is an attorney position and will be responsible for supporting the Sr. Counsel – Business & Legal Affairs of Telemundo Network and other attorneys in the department focusing on corporate transactions.
Responsibilities:
- Under supervision of a senior attorney, draft, review, negotiate, and interpret an extensive range of agreements, including, but not limited to, sponsorship, collaboration, donations, influencers, technology, services, and procurement-related agreements.
- Serve as a dedicated legal support for internal client groups including internal and external communications, corporate and external affairs, facilities, operations, and technology teams, as well as liaising with other internal business units, including on matters relating to procurement and company policy, regulatory compliance in the media industry, privacy and cyber security, safety and global security, artificial intelligence, publicity and privacy rights, partnerships with NPOs, and occasionally liaising with real estate, tax, human resources and labor, entertainment, news, sports, and other internal departments.
- Manage legal issues for internal client groups, including but not limited to drafting rules and guidelines for events and partnerships, advising on internal protocols, company policies and regulatory issues, conducting necessary presentations and trainings, and performing risk assessments on different legal matters.
- Create deal summaries, maintain and administer day-to-day contractual and operational matters including preparation of letters, reports and memoranda to internal and external clients, presentations to senior-level management, and help maintain the infrastructure, records, and internal systems of the Business & Legal Affairs department in compliance with internal policies.
- Provide general legal advice and support to the business.
- Tracking and updating form contracts to reflect current practices and policies.
- Generally, support the other attorneys in the Business & Legal Affairs department.
- JD degree and US bar membership in good standing.
- 2+ years of relevant experience as an attorney in a law firm setting or a business/legal affairs position at a television network or a company in the technology, or media industry strongly preferred.
- Highly organized with strong project management skills and exposure to legal operations and/or processes efficiencies. Business-oriented desired.
- Superior interpersonal communication, drafting, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal skills. Fully bilingual and able to conduct business and analyze legal matters in Spanish and English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, contract management tools, and use of AI tools in the legal landscape.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Willingness to travel with short notice and on weekends.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including late and/or last-minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment.
- Must be willing to work in the greater Miami, Florida area.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
