We are seeking a Manager, Procedural Tech to lead the design, development, and integration of next-generation procedural systems that generate large-scale, high-fidelity 3D environments and assets.

In this role, you will own the execution of building procedural content pipelines that transform real-world data such as geospatial inputs, semantic object data, and simulation outputs into production-ready assets for interactive experiences. You will lead a team responsible for building scalable systems that integrate seamlessly into real-time engines such as Unreal and Unity, while ensuring outputs meet the visual, technical, and performance standards required for modern game development.

You will operate at the intersection of procedural generation, AI/ML, and real-time production pipelines, partnering closely with engineering, AI/ML, and technical art leadership to define how data flows from source to final in-engine experience.

This is a highly collaborative and strategic role that combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership and cross-functional influence.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Lead the design and development of advanced procedural generation systems that produce high-quality 3D environments and assets from structured, real-world data sources
• Oversee the implementation of scalable tools and frameworks compatible with Unreal Engine, Unity, and downstream content pipelines
• Establish best practices for procedural workflows, ensuring consistency, reusability, and performance optimization across projects
• Drive solutions that balance realism, visual fidelity, and runtime performance on target hardware
• Partner closely with internal teams to ensure seamless integration across Houdini-based workflows, geospatial processing, and real-time environments
• Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to increase automation, scalability, and production efficiency
• Ensure outputs are production-ready and align with downstream technical art and gameplay requirements
• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of procedural engineers and specialists
• Set clear goals, provide technical direction, and establish a high-performance, collaborative team culture
• Support hiring and onboarding of procedural and technical talent as the team scales
• Foster knowledge-sharing and continuous learning across tools, techniques, and emerging technologies

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Art, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in game development, VFX, simulation, or related technical fields, including experience leading projects or teams
• Experience in VEX, Python, or similar languages, with experience building scalable systems and tools
• Familiarity with targeting interactivity in real-time engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity
• Demonstrated experience developing or working with procedural generation systems.

Desired Characteristics:

• Hands-on experience with Houdini, Unreal PCG, Blender, or similar procedural content tools
• Experience working with geospatial data, simulation systems, or data-driven content generation pipelines
• Familiarity with AI/ML approaches as applied to procedural generation or content creation
• Experience building or supporting large-scale content pipelines in a production environment
• Strong people leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop technical teams
• Proven ability to operate across disciplines and influence without direct authority
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments with ambiguous problem spaces
• Passion for building scalable systems and enabling creative teams through technology

Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.
