As part of Telemundo Deportes’ communications team, the Digital Sports Communications Manager will help drive integrated publicity and digital storytelling efforts leading up to the FIFA World Cup 2026, as well as other marquee sports properties including U.S. Soccer, FIFA tournaments, NFL, Premier League, and the Olympic Games.
This is a project/limited term position, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.
This role will focus on expanding Telemundo’s digital communications efforts, enhancing its brand visibility across social and owned platforms, and building buzz with media, creators, and fans through innovative, data-driven strategies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute digital-first publicity, content amplification strategies and digital influencer engagement for Telemundo Deportes major sports events and talent, and specifically around the World Cup 26.
- Oversee day-to-day management and strategy for Telemundo’s PR digital efforts, including X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and Instagram, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement.
- Partner with internal social, marketing, and creative teams to align communications content across digital platforms.
- Identify and pitch digital media outlets, podcasts, and influencer partners to extend reach and visibility of sports properties, and specifically around the World Cup 26.
- Draft, edit, and amplify press announcements and activations, including press releases, media alerts, bios, and digital pitches in English and Spanish.
- Develop content creator-specific strategies and plans to promote World Cup 26, including identifying and engaging influencers for activations
- Partner with corporate communications digital team to monitor social and media trends to proactively identify opportunities for storytelling and engagement tied to Telemundo Deportes properties.
- Support the development of 360° PR campaigns with a digital and social integration lens.
- Maintain a digital content and campaign calendar aligned with the overall sports publicity drumbeat.
- Track media and social performance metrics to inform future communications strategy.
- Deep knowledge and passion for sports, digital media, and pop culture.
- Proven experience managing social or digital communications for brands, media companies, or sports organizations.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills in both English and Spanish.
- Proficiency in social media publishing tools, analytics dashboards, and basic design platforms (e.g., Photoshop, Canva).
- Highly organized, creative, and adaptable — able to thrive in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and proactive approach.
- Data-savvy with a keen understanding of engagement metrics and audience insights.
