NBC News is seeking a Real-Time Specialist to support the design, development, and execution of real-time broadcast graphics using Vizrt, including support for Unreal Engine and HTML5-based graphics pipelines. This role supports live news programming and special events and works closely with editorial, creative, and engineering teams to ensure reliable, on-air graphics operations across linear and digital platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain real-time graphics using Viz Artist and Template Wizard.
- Develop and support producer-driven Vizrt templates for live news programming.
- Integrate live and automated data sources into Vizrt graphics systems.
- Support Unreal Engine graphics pipelines for real-time rendering, virtual sets, and mixed-reality graphics.
- Support HTML5-based graphics pipelines and integrations as part of hybrid broadcast and digital workflows.
- Integrate Unreal and HTML5 graphics outputs into Vizrt and broadcast graphics systems as required.
- Provide hands-on technical support for live productions, including setup, troubleshooting, and on-air support in control room environments.
- Collaborate with producers, designers, and engineers to translate editorial and creative requirements into functional real-time graphics solutions.
- Maintain documentation and assist with training users on real-time graphics tools and workflows.
- Participate in testing, deployment, and maintenance of new real-time graphics technologies.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with Vizrt in a live broadcast environment.
- Proficiency with Viz Artist and Template Wizard.
- Experience supporting Unreal Engine graphics pipelines in real-time or broadcast environments.
- Experience working with data-driven and automated real-time graphics systems.
- Strong understanding of live television production workflows.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues under deadline pressure in live production environments.
Desired characteristics
- Experience with HTML5-based graphics systems or web graphics pipelines (HTML5, JavaScript, WebGL).
- Familiarity with hybrid broadcast and digital graphics workflows.
- Scripting or programming experience (VBScript, Python, C#, or similar).
- Experience with virtual production, AR, or mixed-reality graphics.
- Background in 3D graphics, animation, or real-time rendering.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Additional requirements
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as news coverage requires.
- Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary range: $100,000 - $135,000
