This is a hands-on leadership role — guiding a team of Segment Producers, Associate Producers, and Production Assistants while partnering closely with the Executive Producer and Anchors to shape daily coverage.

What You’ll Do:
- Partner with the Executive Producer, Senior Producer and Anchors to shape the daily editorial vision and build smart, urgent shows finding the best and freshest possible angles
- Oversee and elevate scripts, intros, teases, and banners to ensure clarity, authority, and consistency
- Guide Segment Producers, ensuring segments are visually strong and editorially sharp
- Play a key leadership role in the control room during live broadcasts, especially during breaking news
- Ensure all scripts, graphics, and video meet NBC News standards for accuracy, fairness, and tone
- Collaborate with colleagues across NBC to leverage reporting, bureaus, and enterprise coverage
- Submit ideas for story coverage, guests and correspondents on stories breaking overnight
- Spot and execute on high potential stories
- Fill in for Executive Producer as needed
- Oversee the long-term and day to day staffing schedule & assignments to make sure the team’s resources are being effectively used
- Help troubleshoot technical problems in real time
- Oversee the production, writing, and editing of occasional tape spots
- Mentor and develop junior producers, fostering a culture of excellent journalism, dynamic producing, collaboration, and accountability
- 6+ years of experience in broadcast, cable, or streaming news. Morning TV experience a plus.
- At least 2+ years in a leadership role on a live daily news program
- Fact-check under pressure, ensure strict adherence to journalistic standards, and handle copyright or legal & standards issues
- Demonstrated experience leading in or closely alongside a live control room
- Excellent and efficient writing, editing, and copy-editing skills
- Strong editorial judgment and ability to make decisions quickly under pressure
- Proven ability to manage multiple segments and priorities simultaneously
- Confident, calm leader who communicates clearly in a breaking news situation in person and via Slack
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Must be willing and able to work in person Monday–Friday at 30 Rock
Desired Characteristics:
- A journalist first, with deep knowledge of national and breaking news
- Strong visual sensibility and commitment to elevated production values
- Experience editing video in Avid and/or Premiere
- Willing and able to mentor and grow junior members of the team
- A positive and infectious attitude
- Collaborative and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced environment
- A demonstrated commitment to building a long-term career in journalism
