The Production Associate (Toll Mill) is responsible for ensuring the efficient execution of toll mill production—from elevation, dosing, grinding, and mixing to pelleting, and bagging operations—while conducting thorough inspections throughout the process to verify compliance with established standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. By collaborating with stakeholders, this hybrid role ensures that all activities conform to company agreements while adhering to standard operating procedures to deliver high-quality, reliable feed products.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Planning, Production Execution & Coordination
Coordinate closely with the toll miller regarding the sequence of raw materials to be elevated and the type of product to be produced, minimizing material run-outs based on the production schedule.
Check and review product formulations and ensure that all dosed raw materials strictly accord with the mixing guide, coordinating necessary adjustments with NITR personnel and the toller.
Review toll mill volume allocations for production planning and ensure volumes are produced on time to precise customer specifications.
Quality Control, Inspection & Testing
Perform visual inspections and nutritional evaluations of raw materials and feeds to ensure compliance with appearance, texture, color, consistency, and nutritional content standards.
Monitor and ensure that produced feeds conform to company standards for pellet durability, color, size, and nutritional value.
Collect representative samples of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods at various stages for laboratory testing, and prepare monthly samples for wet chemistry analysis.
Verify macro and micro hand-add preparation reports against approved formulations, and review dosing reports for compliance.
Identify, document, and manage product nonconformities, initiating containment actions to prevent the release of nonconforming materials.
System Management (SAP) & Reporting
Execute timely SAP process order transactions, including Goods Receiving (GR), Goods Issuance (GI), Confirmations, and Technical Completion.
Perform SAP results recording and usage decision functions for feed product disposition to ensure only approved batches proceed to market.
Maintain accurate records of check/inspection results, update stock cards for received raw materials, and manage Certificates of Analysis for materials.
Validate dosing reports from the toller and submit accurate shift reports (QA Analyst shift report, FSAR, bin bottom)
Sampling and Testing
Collect representative samples of raw materials and packaging materials from delivery trucks and finished goods at various stages of feed production for laboratory testing and analysis. Follow established sampling protocols and procedures to obtain representative samples.
Prepare monthly samples for wet chemistry analysis and coordinate with accredited third-party laboratories, as required.
Monitor on-hold raw materials and finished goods and ensure timely laboratory analysis to support disposition decisions.
Conduct weekly bulk density monitoring and prepare trend reports.
Nonconformity Management
Identify, document, and communicate product or process nonconformities to the concerned departments.
Recommend or initiate immediate containment actions to prevent the release or use of nonconforming materials.
Monitor the timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions related to identified quality issues.
