About Plooto

Plooto is a payment automation platform built to help accountants, bookkeepers, and their clients take control of their payables and receivables. From approval workflows and audit trails to bulk payments and automated reconciliation, Plooto gives our customers time back and confidence that their books are accurate and up to date. Our customers range from busy entrepreneurs to finance teams and non-profits, with a strong footprint among accounting firms and bookkeeping professionals across Canada.

About the Role

Plooto is looking for a Manager, Cross-Border & FX Payments to lead the execution and growth of our cross-border payments and foreign exchange business.

Cross-border payments and FX represent a significant growth opportunity for Plooto and are an important part of our strategy to grow sustainable, non-float payment revenue. We have established the strategic direction; this role will provide the dedicated ownership required to turn that strategy into measurable customer and business outcomes.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role with meaningful business-line ownership. You will bring together Product, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Operations, Risk & Compliance, and external payment partners around a shared plan and measurable outcomes. You will not directly manage every team responsible for delivery, so success requires strong influence, commercial judgment, analytical depth, and the ability to drive execution across organizational boundaries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own execution of Plooto’s Cross-Border & FX strategy, translating strategic priorities into clear initiatives, roadmaps, KPIs, and measurable business outcomes. Drive growth in FX revenue, cross-border payment volume, customer penetration, repeat usage, and revenue per customer, while identifying opportunities to expand corridors, currencies, payment methods, and customer use cases.
  • Drive commercialization and customer adoption by developing initiatives that increase awareness, penetration, and repeat usage of Plooto’s cross-border and FX capabilities. Partner with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success on customer segmentation, positioning, demand generation, expansion opportunities, and the cross-border value proposition for prospective and existing customers.
  • Own and continuously improve FX pricing and economics, balancing customer competitiveness, adoption, revenue growth, and margin. Analyze FX spreads, transaction economics, customer price sensitivity, competitive positioning, and corridor-level performance, and identify opportunities to improve unit economics through pricing optimization, liquidity strategy, wholesale FX procurement, partner economics, and other mechanisms as the business scales.
  • Shape the Cross-Border & FX product roadmap as the payments subject-matter expert, partnering closely with Product and Engineering to identify and prioritize opportunities based on customer needs, commercial impact, operational efficiency, and strategic value. Develop business cases and requirements and support new capabilities from concept through launch, commercialization, and adoption.
  • Manage key banking, FX, and cross-border payment partnerships in partnership with the Head of Payments Strategy & Compliance. Own partner performance, economics, service levels, capabilities, and roadmap discussions, while evaluating new partners and infrastructure that can improve coverage, customer experience, economics, or resiliency.
  • Lead complex cross-functional execution across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Operations, Risk, and Compliance. Create alignment around priorities, dependencies, timelines, and outcomes, independently moving initiatives from strategy through implementation and influencing teams and senior stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Use data and customer insight to continuously improve business performance, analyzing customer behaviour, payment patterns, product performance, and market trends to identify opportunities, develop business cases, inform investment decisions, and provide senior leadership with clear performance updates, recommendations, and decision points.
  • Partner with Risk and Compliance to appropriately manage regulatory and operational considerations, ensuring new products, corridors, partnerships, and commercialization strategies reflect applicable AML/ATF, sanctions, payments, financial, and operational requirements while balancing customer experience and growth objectives.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in cross-border payments, foreign exchange, treasury, transaction banking, fintech, or payment infrastructure.
  • Deep understanding of how international payments move, including correspondent banking, payment networks, settlement, liquidity, and FX conversion, along with strong knowledge of FX pricing, spreads, wholesale currency procurement, liquidity management, and hedging concepts.
  • Experience developing, scaling, or commercializing payments or FX products, ideally within a fintech, payments company, bank, or SMB-focused platform.
  • Strong commercial and analytical mindset, with experience owning revenue targets, business performance, product economics, or a P&L and using data to identify opportunities, develop business cases, prioritize investments, and measure results.
  • Experience partnering closely with Product and Engineering teams to influence roadmaps and bring payment capabilities to market.
  • Experience managing banking, payment network, FX provider, or other strategic financial-services partnerships, including evaluating partner performance and economics.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory and risk considerations associated with cross-border payments.
  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority, move comfortably between strategy and detailed execution, and simplify complex payment concepts for technical, commercial, and executive audiences.
