Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and creative Design Assistant to support residential remodeling projects from concept through execution. This role works closely with designers, clients, and vendors to ensure projects are well documented, visually compelling, and operationally organized.
The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, an eye for design, and the ability to balance creative support with administrative coordination in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Drafting Support
- Assist with cabinet design software (e.g., 2020 Design) and draft floor plans
- Prepare 3D renderings and visual presentations for client meetings
- Support layout planning and space utilization
- Contribute creative ideas to improve design quality and presentation
Estimating & Bidding Support
- Obtain quotes for cabinetry, countertops, tile, plumbing, flooring, and other materials
- Begin and update bid calculations, including square footage and material specifications
- Assist designers with pricing and material selections
Project Documentation & Coordination
- Create, maintain, and update project job books
- Order project materials and track deliveries
- Maintain organized project files and documentation
- Stay current on product lines, materials, and finish trends
Communication & Collaboration
- Maintain clear communication with designers, vendors, and clients
- Coordinate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, and lead times
- Support a collaborative, team-oriented work environment
- Adapt to changing priorities and project timelines
Qualifications
Core Skills & Experience
- Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through
- Basic proficiency with 2020 Design or willingness to learn quickly
- Good visual and spatial awareness for layouts and design support
- Familiarity with cabinetry, finishes, and residential remodeling processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Buildertrend or similar construction/project management software
- Prior experience supporting interior designers, remodelers, or construction teams
- Familiarity with material sourcing and vendor coordination
