Scale Army CareersΒ·about 16 hours ago
This role is open to candidates based in LATAM, Africa, and Eastern Europe. Please note that as this role supports U.S.-based clients, candidates must be available to work during U.S. business hours aligned with the clientβs time zone.
The Strategic Operations (Commercial, Legal & Special Projects) role exists to own and execute the messiest, highest-leverage problems in the companyβwhere legal, compliance, insurance, revenue, and strategy all intersect.
This is not a legal role.
This is not an operations support role.
This is an operator role.
You exist to:
Translate legal and compliance constraints into business decisions
Unblock revenue, delivery, and growth
Pressure-test new ideas before the company commits real resources
Operate across Sales, Client Success, Marketing, Compliance, and Leadership
Take ownership of complex initiatives that donβt fit neatly into one function
You will work on what matters most right now, not what fits neatly into a job box.
You report:
Solid-line to the Head of Compliance
Dotted-line to the CEO
You will be trusted with judgment, visibility, and real responsibility.
This is a senior individual contributor role by design.
You will:
Operate independently
Sit in high-context conversations early
Make recommendations executives act on
Own outcomes, not just analysis
Over time, this role can grow in multiple directions:
Deeper ownership in legal / compliance / risk
Broader strategic operations leadership
Ownership of new initiatives or business lines
Potential path into a GM role if you demonstrate the judgment and execution to earn it
This role is built for someone who wants optionality, not a narrow ladder.
This is a highly dynamic role. In a given month, you might:
Join Sales calls to structure deals, negotiate MSAs, or unblock contract issues
Work with Client Success & Account Management to renegotiate scope, pricing, or edge cases mid-engagement
Partner with Marketing to pressure-test positioning, claims, and go-to-market ideas
Coordinate with external counsel on targeted legal questionsβthen translate guidance into action
Own insurance workflows tied to client requirements and operational reality
Build models in Google Sheets to evaluate whether a new initiative is worth pursuing
Help leadership decide:
βShould we do this at all?β
βIf we do it, how should it be structured?β
You will constantly move between:
Legal constraints
Commercial incentives
Operational reality
That translation is the job.
You work directly with:
Sales β deal structuring, contract negotiation, objection resolution
Client Success & Account Management β amendments, expansions, renewals, exceptions
Marketing β positioning, messaging, and compliance-aware strategy
Compliance & Legal β risk assessment, delivery, and execution
Leadership β tradeoffs, prioritization, and escalation
You are not a reviewer.
You are a thought partner and problem owner.
Own negotiation and execution of:
MSAs
Amendments
Commercial terms
Balance protection with speed and pragmatism
Act as the primary interface with external general counsel
Own insurance workflows end-to-end:
Coverage alignment
Client requirements
Renewals and exceptions
Your goal is not perfect documents.
Your goal is clean decisions that hold up over time.
Build and analyze models in Google Sheets
Read and understand P&Ls
Pressure-test new initiatives:
Unit economics
Risk exposure
Scalability
Provide leadership with clear, directional recommendations
You are expected to think like an operator, not an academic.
You will be pulled into:
New product or service ideas
Expansion into new markets or client types
Risk-heavy or ambiguous initiatives
Projects that cut across multiple teams and donβt have a clear owner yet
If something matters and is messy, it likely lands with you.
Trusted partner across Sales, CS, Marketing, and Compliance
Confident presence on client and internal strategy calls
Contracting and insurance workflows feel faster and cleaner
Leadership brings you into decisions early
Fewer bottlenecks, fewer surprises
Clear frameworks for evaluating new initiatives
Teams proactively loop you in because it makes things better
You are seen as a business operatorβnot a function
This role is intentionally designed for someone who:
Has legal fluency but chose not to practice law
Enjoys judgment calls and ambiguity
Is comfortable talking to clients and executives
Can model in Sheets and read a P&L
Gets bored doing only one thing
Strong fits often include:
Ex-law-school operators
Legal ops professionals with commercial instincts
Consultants or operators with contract and risk exposure
If you want to sit in legal all day, this role is not a fit.
If you want to touch many parts of a growing business, it probably is.
This role is intentionally open-ended.
Over time, you may:
Build and lead a legal / compliance / commercial ops function
Take ownership of increasingly complex initiatives
Help launch and operate new divisions
Grow into a GM role if you demonstrate:
Strong judgment
Ownership mentality
Ability to drive results
You are not promised a title.
You are given the opportunity to earn one.
If you want:
Exposure to how real businesses make decisions
A chance to run your own function
Work that changes month to month
This role was built for you.
