Vice President, Infrastructure & Operations
Sectigo·about 4 hours ago
We are looking for a transformational Vice President, Infrastructure & Operations to lead and modernize Sectigo’s global infrastructure organization. This leader inherits a substantial global team supporting a hybrid technology estate that includes public cloud platforms, on-premises infrastructure, colocation facilities and business-critical security services and is responsible for improving reliability, operational maturity, engineering collaboration, cost efficiency and the overall speed at which infrastructure supports the business.
Here are the core functions, responsibilities, and expectations for this role:
Core Responsibilities:
- Establish a modern infrastructure and operations strategy aligned with Sectigo’s business and product priorities.
- Build a measurable operating model based on availability, service levels, incident trends, MTTR, change performance, capacity, cost, and customer impact.
- Modernize the organization through automation, AI-enabled operations, and improved tooling.
- Remove barriers between infrastructure and engineering by expanding DevOps practices and embedding infrastructure capabilities closer to product teams.
- Develop a scalable global operating model, including appropriate 24×7 capabilities and greater use of global delivery centers.
- Improve infrastructure economics while maintaining or improving reliability and security.
- Accelerate the reduction of technical debt, including unsupported operating systems, security patching gaps, legacy platforms, and resilience risks.
- Create a culture that takes ownership of business outcomes rather than simply fulfilling infrastructure requests.
- Additional tasks associated with this position may be assigned in response to company initiatives and business needs.
Infrastructure and operational leadership:
Provide clear accountability, simplify organizational boundaries, and determine whether the current team structure and responsibilities are aligned with the future operating model.
- Site reliability engineering
- Cloud infrastructure and operations
- Data center and colocation operations
- Network engineering and network operations
- Database administration
- Systems administration
- Disaster recovery and business continuity
- Incident and problem management
- Infrastructure programs and projects
Reliability and operational excellence:
Create executive-level dashboards that clearly show operational health, trends, risks and improvement, and establish consistent operational disciplines and reporting across the organization, including:
- Service-level objectives and service-level agreements
- Availability and outage reporting
- Mean time to detect and mean time to recover
- Incident frequency, severity and recurrence
- Alert quality and operational noise
- Capacity, storage and infrastructure utilization
- Change success and deployment performance
- Security patching and remediation progress
- Disaster recovery readiness
- Infrastructure cost by service or product.
AI, automation and modernization:
- Develop an AI-first and automation-first operations strategy.
- Identify repetitive, manual and sequential processes that can be automated or redesigned, including monitoring, diagnostics, patching, remediation, capacity management, data lifecycle management and incident response.
- Use AI and modern engineering practices to reduce operational toil, improve decision-making and allow the team to focus on higher-value work.
- Evaluate and introduce appropriate observability, automation, infrastructure-as-code and operational intelligence capabilities — rather than simply replacing tools without redesigning the underlying processes.
Engineering and product alignment:
Replace the traditional “ticket over the wall” relationship between infrastructure and development with a collaborative operating model. Partner with engineering leaders to:
- Embed DevOps and infrastructure expertise within product teams where appropriate.
- Enable development teams to safely own more of their deployment and operational lifecycle.
- Reduce infrastructure-related delivery delays.
- Establish clear platform standards and self-service capabilities.
- Organize infrastructure work around business services and customer outcomes.
- Ensure that infrastructure teams understand the applications and products they support.
Financial and capacity management:
Operate the infrastructure organization with a strong business-owner mindset and develop transparent views of:
- Infrastructure labor costs
- Cloud and data center costs
- Capacity and storage growth
- Vendor and tooling expenses
- Opportunities for automation, consolidation or global delivery
- Cost per service, product or transaction where practical
Deliver measurable improvements in infrastructure economics without compromising availability, resilience, security or customer experience.
Global operating model:
Build a scalable global delivery model that provides effective 24×7 support and access to the right capabilities across regions. Determine which activities should be:
- Centralized
- Embedded within engineering
- Automated
- Delivered through global centers
- Retained close to core business or product teams
Develop strong leaders beneath the SVP and create clear succession, accountability, and career paths across the organization.
Resilience, security and technical debt:
Partner closely with security and engineering to reduce infrastructure risk. Priorities include:
- Unsupported operating systems and platforms
- Security patching and remediation
- Legacy infrastructure
- Disaster recovery and high availability
- Data retention and archival
- Capacity constraints
- Operational dependencies on individual employees
- Acquired or isolated technology environments
Create a prioritized, measurable technical-debt reduction plan tied to business risk.
Additional tasks associated with this position may be assigned in response to company initiatives and business needs.
