Hi there! We're Alma ๐
We're on a mission to make immigration more accessible, transparent, and human through cutting-edge technology and thoughtful legal support.
We're backed by top-tier investors (Bling, Forerunner, Village Global, NFX, NEA, MVP, Conviction, and Silkroad Innovation), and our team combines decades of experience across immigration law, product, operations, and high-growth startups.
We're hiring an Event Operations Intern to help power Alma's growing events engine, making sure every in-person dinner, party, and workshop we run for founders and HR / People teams comes together seamlessly, on time, and at a premium standard.
This is a hands-on, learning-by-doing role. You'll work side by side with our events team on the logistics that make a memorable event real: run-of-show planning, venue and vendor coordination, on-site setup, budget tracking, and the countless details that separate a good event from a forgettable one. It's a chance to learn how a high-growth startup builds and scales its events function from the inside, while making a real impact from day one.
You'll work closely with our events, sales, and growth teams to make sure every experience we host reflects Alma at its best.
Help manage the operational lifecycle of events: venue sourcing, catering, vendors, AV, run-of-show, merch, and day-of readiness
Be on-site to help set up, run, and break down events, jumping in wherever needed
Help ensure every event feels premium, thoughtful, and true to Alma's brand
Help create and refine repeatable checklists, timelines, and playbooks for different event formats
Keep event documentation, vendor lists, and trackers organized and up to date
Support tracking of budgets, staffing needs, and vendor relationships tied to our events calendar
Partner with the events team to turn plans into on-the-ground logistics
Help keep timelines, action items, and follow-ups visible and on track across multiple events running in parallel
Provide clear, regular updates on what's done, what's pending, and where you need support
Take notes on what worked operationally at each event, what caused friction and what saved time, and feed it back into future planning
Help track expenses against budget and flag anything unexpected early
Bring fresh ideas for how we can make our events even better as our cadence grows
You are in school in the Bay Area and can commit to a 3-6 month internship for >12 hours per week
You've helped organize events, whether through school clubs, campus organizations, part-time work, or personal projects, and love the behind-the-scenes work of making them happen
Most importantly, you LOVE creating memorable experiences for the people who attend
You prefer setting strategy over rolling up your sleeves on logistics and execution. This role is highly hands-on
You don't enjoy detail-oriented coordination, vendor communication, or being on-site for events
You're uncomfortable with ambiguity or with being the person who helps solve problems in real time when plans change
We're a fast-growing, mission-driven team reimagining immigration from the ground up. We value thoughtfulness, speed, and building systems that scale. We work closely across functions and care deeply about the people we serve.
Competitive hourly pay
A front-row seat to startup growth, with exposure to Bay Area's hottest startups and mentorship from legal, tech, and business leaders
The chance to build something new and take on more ownership as you grow
We know the "perfect" candidate doesn't exist. If this role excites you but you don't meet every qualification, we'd still love to hear from you. Immigration is complex. So are people. That's what makes this work so meaningful.
