Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Office of Strategy Management, the Manager, Strategic Analytics is a key member of the planning and performance team within a portfolio that includes Peter Munk Cardiac Centre & Medical Imaging. This critical role will be responsible for identifying and implementing strategies to optimize and improve operations, addressing capacity challenges, and ensuring the sustainable delivery of world-class care in Cardiac and Medical Imaging services.
This dynamic role is responsible for managing multiple concurrent, complex initiatives. It also involves working with multiple organizations and engaging different levels of leadership. The role brings structure and clarity to ambiguous or complex problems, ensuring that leaders are equipped with timely, relevant, and decision-ready information. Through strong data storytelling and synthesis, the Manager, Strategic Analytics supports executive forums, governance processes, and operational decision-making in Peter Munk Cardiac Centre & Medical Imaging.
Duties
- Lead multiple work streams of complex initiatives including facilitating working groups and ensuring recommendations and deliverables are in alignment with department and UHN’s goals and strategies
- Translate complex analytics into clear insights and narratives that inform executive and operational decision-making
- Develop advanced analytics models, including simulations, to provide insights into program performance and assist in decision-making
- Engages with internal stakeholders to inform current state, best practices and uses information to inform initiative
- Synthesize information, interpret and use critical thinking skills to draws conclusions and prepares reports and makes recommendations for high-level decision-making
- Works with project manager to monitor progress towards the achievement of goals at regular intervals and takes action, as required
- Indirectly manages project team(s) to ensure achievement of objectives and deliverables on time, in scope, on budget
- Effectively manages resources (financial, HR, infrastructure, space, etc) to achieve objectives within budget
- Represents the unit/department internally on UHN committees, as required, and UHN in the external community at conferences, workshops, etc.
- Regularly reports progress to key stakeholders through status reports and presentations
- Promotes effective delivery of data-related deliverables by providing leadership to teams and leveraging collective expertise
- Masters Degree in Business, Health Administration (MBA), or recognized equivalent
- At minimum 5 years progressive experience in a strategic planning focused role
- Expertise in strategic planning, project management, change management, business development, and quality and process improvement, at the executive-level
- Proficiency in data modeling, statistical analysis, and transforming raw data into actionable insights.
- Expert proficiency with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel) and analytic methodologies
- Skilled in developing dashboards, scorecards, and analytic tools that support clinical and operational decision-making
- Detail oriented with strong skills in data manipulation, analysis and interpretation, with an ability to identify trends and recommend actions
- Experience in hospital data and reporting metrics
- Experience in both project and change management leading complex projects/priorities and to deliver results that meet identified expectations and timelines
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels, including senior level management and external stakeholders
- Excellent communication, negotiation and decision-making skills
- Ability to use a collaborative, team approach to problem solving
- Familiarity with evaluation frameworks, quality improvement principles, and provincial healthcare performance expectations (Ontario Health)
