Hi 👋! I’m Sjamilla, Manager of the Talent Acquisition team and based in Amsterdam 🇳🇱. At WeTravel, we're on a mission to empower travel businesses to focus on what they do best - creating magical experiences - while we handle the complex payment infrastructure behind the scenes. We're building technology that makes group travel payments seamless, secure, and scalable for organizers around the world.
As our Tech Talent Acquisition Partner, you'll be instrumental in building our engineering and product teams. You'll partner closely with technical hiring managers, craft compelling outreach to passive candidates, and ensure every engineer who talks to us has an exceptional experience - whether they join us or not.
Monday: Your week starts with the recruitment team sync, where you discuss pipeline health, share sourcing wins, and align on priorities. Then it's straight into the Engineering sync with all the technical hiring managers - you're getting updates on their team needs, discussing candidates in process, and prioritizing which roles need the most attention. You wrap up the day with the People Ops team to flag any issues or blockers.
Tuesday: Today is your dedicated sourcing day. You're deep in research mode - scrolling through profiles, and reaching out to engineers who've built interesting projects. You personalize each message, making it clear why WeTravel might be their next great opportunity. You also have a kick-off meeting for a new Senior Backend Engineer role, diving deep into the tech stack, team dynamics, and what they're really looking for. You spend time building Boolean searches and mapping out your sourcing strategy for the week.
Wednesday: Today, you're joining the weekly sourcing session with all the engineering managers. Together, you're reviewing profiles, discussing potential candidates, and collaboratively building pipelines for their open roles. It's a great way to get their input on who might be a good fit and to leverage their networks. The rest of the day is filled with screening calls - you're having in-depth conversations with candidates about their technical experience, their passion for travel, and what they're looking for in their next role. You're not just assessing, you're selling them on WeTravel's mission and growth trajectory.
Thursday: You're partnering with Marketing today on an employer branding initiative. Together, you're crafting content for LinkedIn that showcases WeTravel's engineering culture - maybe a "day in the life" video with one of the engineers or a post about the team's latest technical challenge.
Friday: Today's about moving candidates forward and closing strong. You're coordinating final interviews, debriefing with hiring teams, and preparing offer details. You have an offer call with a Senior Engineer who you've been building a relationship with for weeks - and they accept! You wrap up the week by celebrating the win with your team and sending follow-up messages to candidates still in your pipeline.
This is an indication of what we think your week could look like. How it will really be is up to you. We give you the freedom to do your best work and deliver it in a way you feel most comfortable with.
