As a Content Designer at 1Password, you’ll contribute to improving clarity, structure, and usability across complex product experiences. This is a growth-oriented role for a content designer who is ready to deepen their craft and take increasing ownership of problem spaces with support.
You’ll partner closely with product designers, product managers, researchers, engineers, and fellow content designers to deliver thoughtful, high-quality content design that helps customers understand and successfully navigate our products. You’ll be part of a small, collaborative content design team that values strong craft, clear thinking, and continuous improvement.
In this role, you’ll work across UX writing, information architecture, and content strategy, while developing confidence operating in ambiguous spaces. You’ll gain experience designing for multi-surface, system-driven products and build a strong foundation in content design for security-focused experiences.
This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.
What you will do:
Lead UX writing, information architecture, and content structure work within your product area, supporting the evolution of complex user experiences.
Drive content design efforts that clarify workflows, terminology, and interactions across in-product experiences.
Collaborate closely with product designers to create lo-fi wireframes and content prototypes that explore and validate ideas early.
Write clear, inclusive, and accessible UX copy for flows, navigation, forms, system messages, and in-product guidance.
Identify opportunities to improve clarity, consistency, and content structure, and proactively bring recommendations to your partners.
Apply UX principles to ensure users receive the right information at the right time in a scalable, sustainable way.
Work within the Knox design system, contributing content patterns and advocating for consistency across experiences.
Participate in discovery by partnering with research and product to understand customer needs, synthesize insights, and apply findings to your work.
Share work regularly in critiques, reviews, and async channels, incorporating feedback to improve quality and clarity.
Communicate progress clearly and proactively, raising risks, questions, or alignment needs as they arise.
What you bring:
3+ years of experience in content design, UX writing, or information architecture within a software product environment.
A solid foundation in UX writing, content strategy, and information architecture principles.
Comfort collaborating in cross-functional teams and giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Demonstrated ability to use customer research, data, and feedback to inform content decisions and articulate your rationale.
Strong execution skills, with the ability to balance quality, detail, and timelines while incorporating feedback.
A growth mindset, with enthusiasm for learning, adapting, and building skills in complex product environments.
Familiarity with inclusive design and accessibility best practices, and a commitment to designing experiences that work for everyone.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with growing confidence presenting and discussing your work.
Nice to have skills:
Experience working on end-user, admin, or system-heavy products.
Exposure to complex workflows, account management, or configuration-based experiences.
Experience contributing to design systems or shared content standards.
Basic experience with wireframing or visual design tools to support content communication.
Curiosity about experimenting with AI tools to support your design process and workflow.

USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $95,000 USD and $133,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
Canada-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $90,000 CAD and $126,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
