Job SUMMARY:
Allergan sits in the middle of science and beauty, and is the leader in the Japan aesthetics industry. This role sits within the Japan Commercial Organization and reports to the Head of Business Excellence. The position combines two core pillars: (1) Strategy & Transformation, leading high-impact, cross-functional initiatives that improve commercial performance and accelerate organizational change; and (2) New Product Introduction (NPI) & Business Evaluation, shaping the Japan opportunity for pipeline products through market sizing, business case development, and local customer insight. The ideal candidate brings a strategy-consulting background and can translate ambiguity into clear decisions, prioritization, and measurable outcomes.
Key duties and responsibilities:
・Strategic consulting: act as an strategic partner to the General Manager to help design end-to-end strategic projects across the Japan organization, from problem definition to implementation. Translate vision into strategic plans, practical roadmaps, governance models, and KPI-based workstreams.
・Transformation & Performance Improvement: Identify performance gaps, root causes, and value levers across commercial functions (e.g., segmentation, targeting, consumer engagement, customer messaging, marketing strategy, etc). Build forward-looking scenarios (market dynamics, competitive moves, policy/regulatory shifts) and propose action plan. Support execution through stakeholder alignment, operating cadence, and capability uplift.
・Sr. Stakeholder Leadership: Orchestrate collaboration across Commercial, Marketing, Medical/Clinical, AMI, Regulatory, Pricing, Finance, Customer Service, etc to ensure decisions are holistic and executable. Produce crisp, executive ready narratives with clear choices, trade-offs, and risks. Facilitate governance forums that drive timely decisions and accountability.
・NPI Opportunity Assessment: Evaluate Japan launch opportunities for new aesthetics products, developing market sizing models, patient/consumer insights, and buying process. Build revenue, pricing, and investment models (incl. sensitivity analyses) to inform go/no-go and portfolio prioritization. Translate buying factors into locally relevant product features (i.e.: TPP- target product profiles), positioning statements and launch hypotheses.
・Voice-of-Customer: Drive structured insight gathering with clinics, physician segments, and key opinion leaders to understand unmet needs and adoption barriers. Identify decision drivers across awareness, trial, repeat use, and advocacy in the clinic ecosystem. Convert insights into actionable implications for product design, pricing, education, and commercial model.
・Launch Readiness & Portfolio Governance: Partner with cross-functional teams to define Japan launch strategy inputs (e.g., target segments, uptake assumptions, key risks, mitigation plans). Establish milestones, decision points, timelines, and deliverables to keep NPI activities on track.
・Market Intelligence: Monitor competitor pipelines, pricing points, and clinic engagement models to inform strategic decisions. Translate external signals into clear recommendations on differentiation and investment.
・Capability Building: create standardized templates, toolkits, and analytic approaches for strategy cases and NPI assessments. Help stakeholders on structured problem solving, financial modeling, and storyline development. Institutionalize best practices to increase productivity and consistency across strategic initiatives.
Job QUALIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):

・6–10+ years of experience in strategy consulting (e.g., McKinsey/BCG/Bain or equivalent) and industry (pharmaceuticals, medical device, consumer goods, etc), with at least 3 years in consulting.
・Previous experience in international settings, bridging local (Japan) needs with Global requirements and negotiating/influencing global stakeholder. Demonstrated track record leading complex, cross-functional initiatives with executive stakeholders, including ambiguous problem settings and time-sensitive decisions.
・Solid experience in Japan working and leading cross-functional teams in complex (ideally pharmaceutical, medical devices, etc) industries. Proven ability to develop investment-grade business cases (market sizing, forecasting, pricing logic, sensitivity analyses) and translate analysis into execution plans.
Education and Experience
・Bachelor’s degree required (business, economics, engineering, life sciences, or related fields).
・MBA, Phd, or equivalent advanced degree preferred

・Business case evaluation: Ability to Size new-product value potential, identify critical success factors, and translate them into a clear target product profile and label/claim requirements for R&D.
