The mission of an Engineering Manager is to drive the healthy growth of the engineering organization. As an Engineering Manager, you are expected to help with hiring high-caliber Engineers to support the growth of the team, mentor and collaborate with team members to work toward their career goals, and drive the processes that can sustain a high-performance engineering team.
The Porto team is responsible for the entire self-custody experience, this includes the management and transferring of digital assets, staking assets, interacting with onchain smart contracts, and much more! We are an end to end team, comprised of backend, frontend, and iOS engineers which allows us to truly own the product. - Take ownership over the quality of execution, timeliness of delivery, processes, impact and personal and professional growth for a single team.
- Work closely with Product Managers to define investment in our products, ensuring harmony between our product plans, the bandwidth of the team, the realities of the technical landscape and your plans for the growth and structure of the team.
Communication and Influence:
- Work with other engineering managers, product management, people/recruiting, and the rest of engineering to drive team growth, retention, and hiring moving forward.
- Have a material influence on not only what Anchorage builds, but who builds it, taking ownership for the growth planning, recruiting and performance management of a team of Engineers.
You may be a fit for this role if you:
- Have 8+ years of technical experience as a full-time software engineer.
- Have 3+ years of leadership experience as a formal people manager.
- Have prior experience managing engineering teams within the blockchain space.
- Have experience leading distributed teams, working cross-functionally across varying timezones.
- Have maintained a “player-coach” skillset and feel comfortable conducting live technical programming interviews.
- Genuinely enjoy learning new things and have a proven track record of diving below the surface when faced with uncertainty, understanding the “why” and the “how,” not just the “what.”
Although not a requirement, bonus points if:
- You have experience with applied cryptography.
- In your mind the word “crypto” stands for cryptography, not cryptocurrency.
- You read blockchain protocol white papers for fun, and stay up to date with the proliferation of cryptoasset innovations.
- You have a background in the finance industry.
- You have worked on a self custody wallet in the past.
- You have professional experience with Go/Rust/TypeScript/Solidity.
- Familiarity with optimistic & zero-knowledge tech.
