We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead and grow the AI Platform team. In this role, you will be responsible for people leadership, execution excellence, and technical stewardship of a platform that sits at the center of Caseware’s AI strategy. You will partner closely with Staff Engineers, Product Management, QA, Security, Data, and Infrastructure teams to ensure the platform scales reliably, meets enterprise standards, and delivers measurable value to product teams and customers.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands modern AI platforms, thrives in ambiguity, and can translate strategic goals into sustained team execution.

What you will be doing
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers building Caseware’s agentic AI platform, fostering a culture of ownership, learning, and high technical standards
- Own delivery, execution, and prioritization for the AI Platform team, balancing short-term product needs with long-term platform health and scalability
- Partner with Staff Engineers and senior ICs to set technical direction, review architecture, and ensure consistent application of platform standards and best practices
- Collaborate with Product Management to shape roadmaps and milestones, translating strategic objectives into executable plans
- Ensure the platform enables safe, reliable, and scalable AI capabilities, including agent execution patterns, RAG pipelines, grounding connectors, and reusable platform primitives
- Work closely with QA, Security, and domain experts to ensure quality, reliability, and compliance are embedded into AI systems from design through production
- Drive operational excellence, including incident management, post-mortems, and continuous improvement of reliability, performance, and cost efficiency
- Support and reinforce AI-assisted development practices by enabling adoption of tools such as GitHub Copilot and AWS Kiro through team standards, training, and guardrails
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships with DevOps, DevSuccess, Data, and Infrastructure teams to improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment practices, and production safeguards
- Manage staffing, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development for engineers on the team
- Act as an escalation point for complex technical or delivery challenges, helping the team navigate ambiguity and make sound trade-offs
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years of people management experience leading software engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with enough technical depth to guide architectural discussions and evaluate trade-offs
- Experience leading teams that build platforms or shared infrastructure used by multiple product teams
- Strong understanding of AI-powered systems, including concepts such as LLM-based applications, RAG architectures, agent orchestration, and AI safety considerations (hands-on coding not required)
- Experience delivering cloud-native systems on AWS, with familiarity around scalability, reliability, security, and cost management
- Proven ability to partner effectively with Product, QA, Security, and domain experts in complex, cross-functional environments
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to align teams around priorities and outcomes
- Experience driving adoption of engineering best practices and tooling, including CI/CD, observability, and AI-assisted development workflows
- Strong English language communication and collaboration skills
