We are seeking a Senior Consultant – Primary Market Research (PMR) with strong strategic consulting experience and deep expertise in qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
This role sits at the nexus of research and strategy: leading primary research while translating findings into clear strategic recommendations, positioning, and experience implications.
You will lead core workstreams, manage clients with autonomy, and act as a thought partner in shaping decisions across brand, medical, and access strategy.
What You'll Do
1. Lead Strategic Primary Research
Design and deliver qualitative and quantitative research aligned to key business questions
Define research objectives in the context of broader strategic challenges (e.g., positioning, launch readiness, experience optimization)
Select and apply appropriate methodologies (IDIs, ethnography, surveys, conjoint, segmentation, etc.)
Ensure research is hypothesis-driven and decision-oriented, not purely exploratory
Oversee recruitment, vendors, and fieldwork quality
2. Translate Insight into Strategy
Synthesize research into clear, actionable strategic implications
Identify unmet needs, behavioral drivers, and key tensions within the market
Develop outputs such as:
Positioning frameworks
Segmentation and targeting strategies
Message and concept optimization
Strategic imperatives for brand and portfolio decisions
Move beyond reporting to provide clear recommendations and direction
3. Quantitative & Advanced Research Leadership
Lead quantitative design and interpretation, including:
Segmentation
Message and concept testing
Conjoint and trade-off analyses
Translate data outputs into commercially meaningful insights
Partner with analytics teams where deeper modeling is required
Ensure outputs are accessible, credible, and decision-ready
4. Journey & Experience Integration
Apply research to inform patient, caregiver, and provider journeys
Translate findings into personas, behavioral archetypes, and experience opportunities
Ensure research connects to experience design and downstream activation
Contribute to journey development across both static and digital environments (e.g., SenseMap)
5. Client Leadership & Consulting Excellence
Act as a strategic advisor to clients, not just a research lead
Lead workstreams, client discussions, and insight readouts
Manage timelines, budgets, and day-to-day client engagement
Facilitate discussions and workshops to align stakeholders around insight and strategy
Mentor junior team members and guide their development
6. Cross-Capability Integration
Collaborate with Experience Strategy, Medical Affairs, Marketing, and Market Access teams
Ensure research is integrated into broader strategic and commercial programs
Contribute to multi-disciplinary engagements across the product lifecycle
7+ years of experience in primary market research and strategic consulting within healthcare, pharma, biotech, or life sciences
Demonstrated ability to connect research to strategic decision-making
Strong experience in:
Segmentation and targeting
Message testing and positioning
Survey design and quantitative analysis
Insight-driven strategy development
Experience working across patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers
Proven ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable recommendations
Strong executive communication and storytelling skills
Experience managing teams, vendors, and client relationships
Experience supporting early asset strategy, launch planning, or lifecycle optimization
Exposure to rare disease or specialty therapy areas
Familiarity with digital insight platforms or living insight repositories
Experience contributing to business development and proposal development
