SUMMARY:
As a key member of the MG-NA finance leadership team, reporting to the Vice President, Finance MG-NA, the Director of Commercial Finance and Pricing is responsible for helping to set and achieve financial targets, as well as providing leadership, analysis and information needed to make commercial, financial, and strategic decisions. This role is a critical business partner to the sales and marketing leadership teams; setting and driving pricing strategy, providing thought partnership on commercial decisions, and championing the creation and adoption of new digital tools and technologies to drive efficiency and improve decision making.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Partnership
Leads financial strategy for revenue-generating activities, partnering with sales and marketing to optimize commercial strategy and profitability through forecasting, performance analysis, budgeting, and financial modeling
Direct business partner to the VP of Finance, VP of Sales, and VP of Marketing, in addition to providing financial and analytical support to other key members of the finance and commercial organization
Understanding of external markets, competitors, and key macroeconomic indicators and translating these factors into actionable insights that enhance commercial decision-making and improve forecasting and understanding of business results
Proactively engage the sales and marketing teams on trends, issues and actions necessary to protect and grow the business
Ensures alignment of commercial strategies with overall business objectives and goals
Focus on continuous optimization of commercial tools to drive insights for sales and marketing
Commercial Finance and Analytics.
Focus areas include share and margin strategy, pricing analytics, customer and product profitability, new product development, etc.
When bringing meaningful insights and analytics to the team, this role is responsible for providing analytical insight across the entire P&L (top-line, manufacturing costs, SG&A expense), and continuing to drive incremental EVA for the company
Owner of the overall commercial forecasting workstream, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting. This role is expected to maintain a rigid forecasting environment and ensure alignment with key commercial and operational stakeholders. The role is also responsible for continuous improvements to the forecasting process, helping drive meaningful reductions in our mean average percentage error (MAPE)
Responsible for overall commercial analytics strategy and workstream that drives ongoing, real time understanding of effectiveness, performance and opportunities across the business. This role is also responsible for continuing to refine and improve our use of salesforce.com tools to improve overall sales velocity and understanding of the pipeline
Key contributor to MBR/QBR process. This role is expected to understand and articulate the story for the topline, including throughput drivers, top customer performance, and product performance
Maintain a rigorous control environment and ensure compliance with all appropriate SOX requirements
Pricing
Leader of the pricing workstream for LGM-NA. Work hand-in-hand with commercial partners to set and execute our pricing and margin strategy to ensure profitable growth
Responsible for the ongoing optimization of pricing workflows across the commercial organization. This includes the continued expansion of our use of PriceFx, and associated tools to drive efficiencies and provide better understanding of underlying business results
Responsible for overseeing and maintaining rebate / supply agreement strategy across LGM-NA. Both directly and through the pricing team, this role helps create mutually beneficial rebate proposals that promote profitable growth and share retention
Responsible for helping execute our bid strategy as new RFPs come up. This role helps ensure consistent application of our margin and share objectives through the bid process, and helps the commercial organization understand the overall impact of bid performance on the business and pricing landscape
Steward of terms changes. Responsible for understanding the overall impact of terms decisions on the customer account and the broader business at large, including P&L and Balance Sheet / FCF impacts
Leadership
Responsible for leading a high-performing team of analysts and managers with varying degrees of tenure and experience. This includes establishing and managing performance objectives that help advance our business goals.
Create and maintain an OGSM for the commercial finance and pricing teams. Ensure buy-in from the team and create a process for ensuring accountability to goals.
Encourage and promote both personal and professional growth through ongoing education and relevant training.
Responsible for helping drive ongoing improvements to our employee satisfactions. This includes understanding critical drivers of employee engagement for our MG-NA finance team, and developing/deploying strategies to address focus areas.
This role plays a key role in our Early Careers Program, helping drive the recruitment strategy and curriculum for both our interns and full-time employees.
Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or business analytics field
MBA preferred
10+ years relevant finance experience, with prior experience in commercial finance and/or pricing
Experience managing and developing talent required
Proven analytical skills, strong business acumen, and data driven thinking
Experience supporting business or functional leadership required
Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence decision making, and drive financial performance
Excellent communication skills and demonstrates strong leadership presence
Proven analytical skills and strong business acumen
Oracle/Oracle BI, HFM and consolidated financial system(s) experience preferred
The salary range for this position is $165,000- $220,000/ year.
The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting.
