We are looking for experienced Engineering Managers to inspire and guide some of our Engineering teams at Coconut. You are expected to perform at a high level and lead your team in efficiently building solutions to revolutionize the banking experience at some of the industry leading financial institutions.

- We innovate on top of a modern solution stack consisting of web technologies (React and Laravel) utilizing a RESTful architecture, and backed by relational DBs (MySQL and PostgreSQL) all deployed on AWS.
- You don’t need to be an expert in any of our specific technologies, but experience in software development with a modern SaaS stack is an asset.
- We don't follow rigid Scrum, but we do run our teams in an iterative way, focusing on continuously improving our team’s delivery and implementing what works for us.

[Note: On Call] We strive to provide service excellence in all areas, as such, roles in our Engineering department are expected to contribute to our collaborative on-call rotation, working with your team to support our systems and ensuring application availability/reliability. As an Engineering Manager, you’ll be available to support your team’s on call rotations and direct your team’s rotation schedule.
YOU’RE FIRED UP ABOUT
- People Leadership: You will be coaching, mentoring, guiding, and motivating a team of engineers from different backgrounds. This includes all aspects of people management including hiring and training team members, 1:1s, and facilitating opportunities for knowledge sharing, pair programming, or training sessions.
- Delivery: You’ll help your team(s) deliver code in a high trust environment using agile ceremonies, with a strong connection with stakeholders (using demos, retros, blameless incident reviews, and the like). While you won’t be as hands-on with the code, the expectation is that you have the knowledge to ensure your team designs, plans and delivers quality and performant code following best practices throughout the SDLC.
- Planning and Objectives: Drive predictable outcomes by overseeing the team’s planning, managing resource allocation and ensuring the team's work is tied to clear objectives and metrics aligned with organizational goals.
- Driving Process: Working with the engineering leadership team to define, implement and champion dept-wide standards and processes.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
- 3+yrs of proven experience managing engineering teams: coaching, mentoring, guiding, performance management, setting individual and team objectives and goals
- You have significant experience with success and failure, which helps you make better decisions.
- Experience working with Product Managers and Designers and collaborating well as a group to drive forward success for the engineering team.
- Effective at nurturing relationships and managing multiple stakeholders across different teams.
- Someone who is genuinely passionate about our CHEERS values and is committed to living them out every day.
- Driven by the value that ‘how we win matters’ and a passion for building inclusive, collaborative teams that put people first. You strive to create an inspiring and motivating team environment with an open communication culture.
- Prior experience working as a Software Developer on commercial web applications using modern programming languages (PHP, Python, Ruby, Go, Rust, Java, C++, NodeJS, etc).
- Demonstrated passion for innovation and continuous learning, including a strong foundational understanding and strategic desire to explore and adopt emerging technologies like AI/LLMs to push boundaries and effectively address business and customer challenges.
This posting is for a vacant position. The expected hiring range for this role is $140,000 - $170,000.
The base salary for this position is listed to support candidates to align themselves within the target range. The range is grounded in comprehensive analysis of national compensation data for similar roles and company sizes in the technology sector, alongside a review of our internal compensation framework to ensure pay equity across the company. Note that ranges may evolve over time. We aim to provide a fair offer and hire within this specified range. The final offer for this position will take a candidate's background, experience, skills, and internal equity into consideration. Top performers’ compensation will be reviewed annually, as part of our Performance Acceleration program (Performance Reviews, Compensation Reviews, etc.).
