About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Backend Developer to support one of Gruveβs enterprise clients as part of a fast-paced, rapidly growing engineering team. This role is hired and employed through Gruve, with day-to-day work performed in partnership with one of our clients.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in building and operating high-scale, low-latency distributed systems and thrives in environments where ownership, technical excellence, and collaboration are essential.
This is a 6-month contract engagement with the possibility of renewal based primarily on performance and client need.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain low-latency, large-scale distributed systems that are reliable, performant, and scalable.
Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and design to deployment, monitoring, and operations.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality features and system improvements.
Debug complex production issues with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Drive technical initiatives, set best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement of system reliability and performance.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on new projects and infrastructure enhancements.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of software development experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Demonstrated experience building large-scale, distributed systems with low-latency requirements.
Proficiency in Go or Python, with strong production debugging and technical problem-solving abilities.
Experience operating distributed systems in production, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Experience mentoring junior engineers and providing technical direction on new initiatives.
Salary Range
$50-67 per hour
This position is being hired for a customer of Gruve.
Candidates may engage in one of the following ways:
β’ W-2 employee of Gruve, contracted to provide services to one of our clients
β’ 1099 independent contractor arrangement
This is an initial 6-month contract, with the opportunity for renewal or extension based primarily on performance and client requirements.
Gruve is not able to provide visa sponsorship for this role. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.
