Primary Function of Position
The Sr Manager, Immersive Content, is responsible for leading a product development team creating cutting-edge immersive training applications for surgical robotic systems. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with team management, driving the development of interactive Unity-based experiences across a variety of delivery platforms that will revolutionize user training for robotic surgical systems.

Essential Job Duties
Lead technical architecture and hands-on development of Unity-based immersive applications targeting multiple delivery platforms for product training scenarios
Design and implement scalable, high-performance solutions that provide effective training experiences
Write clean, maintainable code and establish technical standards and best practices for the development team
Manage and mentor a product software development team, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on rapid iteration and quality delivery
Manage or collaborate with 3D artists and designers
Pursue and critically evaluate opportunities for AI implementation to improve development processes and user experience
Drive project planning, sprint management, and delivery timelines to ensure consistent on-time delivery of milestones
Interface with product managers to translate training requirements into technical solutions and user experiences
Present technical concepts, project status, and strategic recommendations to managers and stakeholders
Coordinate with other engineering and training teams to ensure comprehensive solution development
Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and create opportunities for professional development within the team
Stay current with XR and AI technologies, Unity platform updates, development best practices for HMD and mobile platforms, and emerging trends in serious games and medical simulation
Ensure software reliability, performance optimization, and seamless user experiences across all training applications
Core Competencies and Skill Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, related technical discipline or equivalent experience
5+ years of Unity development experience with demonstrated expertise in XR applications, preferably on Meta Quest platforms
3+ years of technical leadership or management experience with a proven track record of successfully delivered projects in fast-paced environments
Strong architectural skills with experience building scalable, reliable software systems that perform well under demanding conditions
Proven ability to lead technical teams to consistently deliver complex products to end users on time, aligned to business requirements, and within budget
Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences including executives, product managers, and clinical professionals
Experience with C#, Unity's XR toolkit, XR performance optimization, and modern software development practices
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in cross-functional team environments
Deep understanding of Meta Quest platform development, optimization, deployment processes, and performance requirements is an advantage
Azure cloud services experience (compute, storage, networking) is an advantage
Background in agile development methodologies and modern DevOps practices is an advantage
Experience with Unreal Engine development in addition to Unity expertise preferred
Web development skills for building training management and analytics platforms preferred
Previous experience in medical technology, healthcare, or training software development preferred
Knowledge of robotic systems integration or medical simulation environments preferred
Experience with multiplayer XR applications or collaborative training environments preferred

Travel: If located in Sunnyvale, up to 5% travel may be required for customer engagements and industry conferences. If located in Durham, NC or Peachtree Corners, GA, up to 15% travel may be required to accommodate meetings at Sunnyvale headquarters.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
