Accountabilities:

• Investigate and manage complex and large-loss property claims, including losses involving fire, water, weather, theft, and other catastrophic events.
• Travel to loss locations to conduct detailed property inspections, assess damages, document findings, and prepare accurate repair estimates.
• Use virtual video technology to collaborate with onsite vendors, identify damage, and complete estimates when working remotely.
• Review policies and complex coverage information, determine how coverage applies, and clearly explain decisions and estimates to customers.
• Negotiate claim settlements in accordance with established methodologies while ensuring fair, timely, and accurate outcomes.
• Handle complex contents inventories, pricing analyses, mitigation bills, mortgagee claims, and claims involving public adjusters.
• Research and resolve complex customer concerns, conflicts, communications, and escalated issues with professionalism and empathy.
• Conduct reinspections of complex and highly complex estimates and provide quality feedback and coaching where appropriate.
• Apply advanced knowledge of regional construction types, building methods, and repair methodologies when evaluating property damage.
• Perform proactive analysis using data and analytics to support sound decision-making and identify trends or opportunities for improvement.
• Document claim files thoroughly, including investigation findings, evaluations, coverage decisions, estimates, and settlement rationale.
• Serve as a technical resource to leadership and colleagues on complex claims, coverage questions, and high-severity losses.
• Contribute to larger business initiatives and committees, including leading medium or large projects when assigned.
• Recommend appropriate escalation of claims to specialized or central teams when additional review is required.
• Participate fully in virtual meetings and training, including engaging on camera when required.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of property adjusting experience is preferred, with experience handling complex or large-loss claims strongly valued.
• Construction, restoration, or skilled-trades experience is preferred and should demonstrate familiarity with property damage and repair methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of regional construction types, property repair practices, estimating, coverage analysis, and complex claim investigation.
• Experience with Xactimate or comparable property estimating technology.
• Strong active listening, critical-thinking, time-management, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical and policy-related information clearly and empathetically.
• Ability to work effectively and independently in the field, remotely, virtually with vendors, and collaboratively with internal teams.
• Strong judgment and attention to detail when handling high-severity claims, customer concerns, and complex coverage decisions.
• Ability to use data and analytics to support decisions and communicate insights effectively.
• Willingness and ability to work a 10/4 schedule, with 7 a.m.–7 p.m. hours and 70%+ travel.
• Depending on the assigned location, an adjuster and/or appraiser license may be required within 60 days of hire, including any applicable additional background-check requirements.
• This opportunity is not available to candidates residing in California, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or Washington.
• Candidates must be able to meet remote-work requirements, including a dedicated private workspace and reliable internet service with minimum speeds of 50 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
