This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Remote Data and AI Architect. In this pivotal role, you will lead the technical evolution of a robust Data & AI platform, impacting 35,000+ customers across over 140 countries. Your expertise will help architect a unified IT operations backbone that handles massive-scale distributed systems and real-time analytics. Collaborating with modern technologies, you will tackle architectural challenges while mentoring teams and influencing product strategy, making a significant mark on the company's success.
Accountabilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and evolution of a modern Data & AI platform.
- Define scalable, resilient data architectures for diverse data types across analytics, AI/ML, and operational workloads.
- Design and optimize data storage and distributed query layers using technologies such as Apache Spark and Trino.
- Drive adoption of OLAP and analytical query engines for low-latency analytics and real-time dashboards.
- Establish best practices for data modelling, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.
- Define standards for batch and streaming ingestion and data lifecycle management.
- Ensure seamless integration of analytical systems with data lakes and BI tools.
- Own performance benchmarking, capacity planning, and operational excellence.
- Mentor engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to align technical strategy with business goals.
- Manage relationships with cloud providers to support platform operations.
Requirements
- Proven technical leader with experience in designing and delivering cloud-based Data & AI platforms at scale.
- Ph.D. or MS in Computer Science (highly regarded but not necessary).
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in an Architect or Principal role.
- Strong background in large-scale data platforms and distributed systems.
- 5+ years building high-performance data systems, with hands-on expertise in performance tuning.
- Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data platforms such as Snowflake.
- Solid software engineering and system design skills, proficient in multiple programming languages.
- Excellent communicator with experience mentoring senior engineering talent.
