As Director of Business Development, you will lead the growth strategy for a leading preclinical Contract Research Organization (CRO) across Europe. You will identify and develop new business opportunities, build strategic client relationships, and ensure the company is positioned as a trusted partner in the life sciences industry. This role combines high-level strategy with hands-on execution, requiring close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored solutions. You will monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to inform business decisions. The position offers a fully remote working environment while engaging with senior stakeholders and top-tier clients across Europe. Your work will directly impact revenue growth and long-term client success, providing visibility and influence across the organization.
Accountabilities
- Develop and execute business development strategies to expand the companyโs European presence
- Identify, pursue, and secure new client opportunities in the preclinical CRO space
- Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients
- Collaborate with technical, scientific, and leadership teams to deliver customized client solutions
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to inform strategies
- Represent the organization at conferences, industry events, and networking opportunities
- Manage the sales pipeline and achieve or exceed revenue and growth targets
- Utilize CRM and analytics tools to track progress, generate insights, and optimize business development initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelorโs degree in a scientific discipline; PhD is preferred but not required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales within the life sciences sector, ideally with CRO experience
- Proven track record of securing new business and meeting revenue objectives
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Strategic thinker with problem-solving capabilities and a results-oriented mindset
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently in a remote environment
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for engaging with senior stakeholders
