Mactores is the agent-native AWS modernization firm. Most modernization work doesn't ship, it stalls in pilots, slips a year, or lands at three times the budget. We exist to ship it: production systems running, legacy retired, outcomes measured. Our delivery is built on Aedeon, the agent platform built by Mactores' founders' sister company, which absorbs the repetitive 60–70% of engagement work, discovery, dependency mapping, validation, test generation, that traditional consulting bills human hours against. Forward-deployed engineers own the rest: architecture, judgment, and cutover, on dates we commit to in the contract.
Nothing cuts over cleanly if the landscape underneath it is flaky. Our Application & Database Modernization engagements — including SAP estates moving to AWS, depend on non-production SAP HANA environments where we prototype migrations and prove refactors before they touch anything real. That layer is yours.
As our SAP Basis Administrator, you'll build the sandboxes, DEV, and QA tiers our engineering teams break and rebuild daily. Aedeon and our engineers move fast against these environments; your job is to make them reliable enough that nobody has to think about them. You'll design the landscape, automate it, and keep it clean.
This is a freelance engagement, remote from India, working PST hours so you're in the room with US engineering leads as decisions are made, not reading about them the next morning. You'll be the SAP Basis voice on customer calls, and the person engineering counts on when an environment needs to come up clean and fast.
What you will do?
- Build non-production SAP HANA environments on AWS sandbox, DEV, and QA tiers for active customer engagements.
- Install SAP HANA, apply patches, configure system parameters, and tune each environment for the workloads it's sized for.
- Stand up backup, recovery, and basic high availability for non-production systems, so engineering teams can break and rebuild safely.
- Manage transports, user administration, and role provisioning across the SAP system landscape.
- Troubleshoot performance, connectivity, and configuration issues across the SAP and HANA layers until they're resolved, not just logged.
- Document build steps and runbooks so engineering teams self-serve where possible.
- Coordinate with US-based engineering leads during PST hours. Clear status, clean handoffs, no surprises.
What are we looking for?
- 4+ years as an SAP Basis Administrator with hands-on SAP HANA experience.
- A track record of building and operating non-production SAP landscapes yourself provisioning through teardown.
- Working knowledge of AWS-EC2, EBS, VPC, and IAM, sufficient to deploy SAP workloads.
- Strong written and spoken English. You'll be on calls with US engineering leads and customer counterparts. Communication is part of the job, not a soft skill.
- Willing and able to work PST business hours from India.
You'll be preferred if you
- Have installed or migrated SAP HANA on AWS specifically, not only on-prem.
- Have worked on S/4HANA, BW/4HANA, or HANA-based analytics workloads.
- Hold an SAP HANA Technology Associate certification or an AWS certification (SAA, SysOps).
- Have scripted Basis tasks in Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
How we work?
Agents handle the repetitive majority of engagement work discovery, mapping, validation, test generation. Engineers own the judgment calls: architecture, risk tradeoffs, cutover. Your environments are where both do their work before anything reaches a customer's production system. We commit to delivery dates and absorb overage cost for delays inside our control, which means the landscapes you run can't be the reason a date slips. We'll hold you to that standard, and we'll hold ourselves to it first.
