Director, Biopharma Marketing

At Personalis, we are transforming the active management of cancer through breakthrough personalized testing. Our highly sensitive assays combine tumor-and-normal profiling with proprietary algorithms to deliver advanced insights even as cancer evolves over time. Our products are designed to detect minimal residual disease (MRD) and recurrence at the earliest timepoints, enable selection of targeted therapies based on ultra-comprehensive genomic profiling, and enhance biomarker strategy for drug development. Personalis is based in Fremont, California.

Summary:

Personalis is building its position as a leader in precision oncology and is seeking a Director of Marketing to assume a key commercial leadership role. This leader will own the strategic direction and tactical implementation of commercial marketing activities across the full BioPharma portfolio, including tumor profiling and MRD. The Director will be responsible for a multitude of global marketing activities aimed at building awareness and driving demand across BioPharma. This position will own a broad spectrum of downstream marketing activities including commercial market research, lead generation, website management, creative development, asset development including slide decks, campaign activation, multi-channel marketing, conference planning, and marketing events. This position will also co-own strategic marketing deliverables including go-to-market strategy, customer segmentation, product positioning, and messaging in collaboration with key stakeholders.

Work Location: Remote, must operate on Pacific Time hours

Responsibilities:

• Establish a high-impact and comprehensive BioPharma marketing plan that competitively positions the company for commercial success
• Build global awareness and drive demand for the full portfolio of Personalis products across BioPharma, for all current and pipeline products
• Lead all BioPharma product and portfolio promotional marketing campaigns, marketing asset and content development, lead generation, media dissemination, multi-channel advertising and promotion, and marketing analytics
• Co-own strategic marketing such as go-to-market strategy, customer segmentation, product positioning, and messaging in close partnership with Product Management
• Lead virtual and in-person marketing events, including conferences, tradeshows, speaker panels and programs, and webinars
• Cultivate a strong partnership with Biopharma Sales, Product Management, Field Application Specialists, and R&D to contribute to corporate goals and objectives
• Develop a strong understanding of customers across BioPharma to create effective positioning and key messages to drive product adoption
• Participate in internal MLR review process
• Actively manage the marketing agency relationship and deliverables, ensuring a cost effective approach that is aligned with commercial goals and objectives

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, life sciences, or related field
• MBA or advanced degree in Life Sciences (or 2 years of experience in lieu of Master’s degree)
• 8+ years of proven experience in marketing roles of increasing scope and responsibility in the Pharma, Biotech, genomics, molecular biology, or molecular diagnostics arenas
• Direct NGS and/ or molecular diagnostics experience preferred, ideally in MRD or therapy selection/ CGP
• Ideal experience marketing research products and CTAs to BioPharma
• Strong creative intuition on design and messaging that resonates with BioPharma customers, ability to execute plans with attention to detail, and an ability to learn from previous campaigns to improve on performance
• Ability to develop and present strategy and brand/ marketing plans; communicates in a compelling manner that captures and holds others’ attention
• Demonstrated track record of partnering well with internal peers and external vendors
• Proven ability to thrive and be successful in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to travel up to 20%

The hiring range for this position is $220,000 to $250,000 per year, which may factor in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus (or a sales incentive plan) and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
