We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer with strong backend fundamentals and hands-on experience supporting machine learning systems. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain high-performance, cloud-native services and APIs.
Golang is our primary backend language, and you will work extensively with Go-based services in production. At the same time, this role operates at the intersection of backend engineering and ML operations—you’ll collaborate closely with ML engineers and research teams, integrating models into scalable systems and supporting ML workflows, often using Python.
We welcome candidates with prior backend experience in languages such as Java, Scala or Python, who are eager to ramp up in Go while working across both backend and ML-driven systems.
Design, develop, test, deploy, and monitor high-performance backend services and APIs
Build and productionize backend services primarily in Golang
Work with Python-based ML and ML operations workflows, including model integration and inference support
Collaborate closely with ML engineers and research teams to take models from experimentation to production
Develop and maintain services using AWS (Kinesis, DynamoDB, S3) and GCP native services
Deliver production-ready features end-to-end with a strong focus on scalability, performance, and security
Diagnose and resolve production issues using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Google Logging, and Cloud Trace
Review code to uphold quality standards and promote best practices
Contribute to evolving backend and ML platform architecture
Participate in on-call rotation, including required night and weekend coverage
A backend-focused engineer who enjoys working close to ML systems and data
Comfortable owning production services written in Go while collaborating across ML workflows
Able to bridge research prototypes and real-world, scalable backend systems
Confident context-switching between writing backend code, supporting ML pipelines, and troubleshooting production issues
Highly aware of cloud scalability and operational impact when designing systems
Collaborative, resilient, and adaptable in fast-changing environments
Accountable and dependable, with a strong track record of delivering production-quality systems
7-10 years of software development experience
Strong backend engineering experience, with exposure to ML systems or ML operations
Experience building production backend services in Golang (or strong backend experience in another language with willingness to ramp up in Go)
Proficiency in Python, particularly in the context of ML, data processing, or ML operations
Experience designing and implementing scalable, cloud-based APIs
Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and system design
Experience supporting ML model deployment, inference pipelines, or ML-backed services
2+ years of DevOps experience deploying SaaS services using CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with AWS services such as Kinesis, DynamoDB, and S3
Familiarity with Redis, MySQL, or similar data stores
Strong Linux proficiency
Prior experience transitioning from another backend language (Java, Scala, Python) to Go
Experience with RabbitMQ and Nginx
Comfort contributing to frontend tasks or JavaScript when needed
Gain a foundational understanding of product architecture and system design.
Ramp up on development processes and internal workflows.
Build relationships across the team.
Participate in grooming and planning meetings.
Complete onboarding and New Employee Orientation.
Tackle your first small bug fix or feature implementation.
Actively contribute to team discussions and engineering rituals.
Begin working on larger projects or features.
Deliver small code changes through the complete software development lifecycle.
Take ownership of tasks coming out of planning meetings.
Help drive task breakdown during grooming and planning.
Deliver a major feature design or implementation.
Teach the team something new—sharing your expertise or insights.
As part of Pindrop, you’ll directly influence our portfolio of products and help shape the future of voice security. We hire exceptional people and empower them to do their best work.
