The Email Marketing Specialist will execute high-performing email campaigns and automated flows that engage customers, drive conversions, and support DTC e-commerce brands. This role works closely with Lifecycle Marketing Strategists and cross-functional team members to manage retention calendars, write persuasive on-brand email and SMS copy, ensure flawless QA, and maintain operational precision across all sends.
Own the retention calendar for assigned clients and maintain full visibility into timelines.
Lead calendar walkthroughs during weekly or bi-weekly client calls.
Ensure every email and SMS is sent on time, error-free, and aligned with strategy.
Proactively follow up on assets, approvals, and feedback to protect timelines and execution.
Develop a deep understanding of each clientβs brand voice, audience, and conversion goals.
Write clear, persuasive, on-brand email and SMS copy for campaigns and flows.
Own all copy components including headlines, body copy, CTAs, and secondary modules.
Translate strategy into execution by submitting detailed and thoughtful copy briefs in ClickUp, including layout direction, hierarchy, inspiration, and brand considerations.
Collaborate closely with designers and Account Managers to bring campaigns to life.
Thoroughly QA every campaign and flow using a structured checklist.
Conduct creative QA, including spelling, grammar, pricing, product names, imagery, and brand accuracy.
Perform functional QA, including rendering across devices, links, landing pages, personalization, segmentation, and dynamic content.
Complete scheduling QA, including sender details, audiences, suppressions, timing, and timezone accuracy.
Clearly document QA findings and tag internal stakeholders for final review.
4+ years of email marketing and copywriting experience, preferably in-house at DTC brands or agencies.
Proven experience building, scheduling, and deploying email marketing campaigns and automated flows within email platforms.
2+ years of experience in retention marketing across email, SMS, CRM, or loyalty programs.
Experience working within Shopify or directly supporting Shopify-based clients.
Hands-on experience with an Email Service Platform (ESP), with strong preference for Klaviyo.
Strong direct-to-consumer (DTC) copywriting skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style to different client brands.
Solid understanding of email analytics and ability to translate data insights into actionable strategy.
Clear understanding of the difference between marketing campaigns and automated flows, and when to deploy each.
Proficiency in building segmented customer lists using behavioral and transactional data.
Proactive, organized approach with the ability to think through the entire customer journey.
Strong collaboration and project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
