Our client is a growth-focused digital marketing organization that helps businesses increase visibility, attract qualified traffic, and drive measurable business results through strategic search engine optimization initiatives. They partner with clients across multiple industries to develop long-term growth strategies, improve search performance, and maximize return on marketing investments. As they continue expanding their client portfolio, they are seeking an experienced SEO Strategist to lead strategy, oversee account performance, manage team execution, and drive client retention through impactful SEO campaigns.

Role Overview

The SEO Strategist will oversee strategic planning and execution for approximately 30 client accounts. The SEO Strategist will be responsible for developing 12-month SEO strategies, conducting bi-annual quality assurance reviews, maintaining direct client relationships, leading a team of specialists and analysts, and ensuring campaigns deliver measurable results. This role requires a balance of strategic leadership, analytical thinking, client management, and hands-on SEO expertise. Success in this role is measured by client retention, campaign performance, team effectiveness, and overall account profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Client Strategy & Retention

• Develop and implement comprehensive 12-month SEO strategies for assigned clients.

• Conduct bi-annual quality assurance reviews for all client accounts.

• Maintain regular client-facing calls to communicate strategy, progress, and results.

• Drive client retention as a primary performance metric and KPI for bonus consideration.

• Monitor client budgets to maximize ROI and ensure profitability.
  

SEO Strategy & Execution

• Research and analyze competitor sites to identify opportunities and threats.

• Build comprehensive SEO audits and prioritize recommendations based on impact versus effort.

• Proactively test new strategies and tactics, monitoring performance to identify what drives success.

• Develop and implement strategies following industry best practices.

• Create content strategies using full-funnel approaches and content clustering techniques.

• Lead off-site optimization initiatives, including local SEO and link-building efforts.
  

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

• Track and analyze key performance metrics to evaluate campaign success.

• Develop and implement analytical tracking solutions aligned with client KPIs.

• Identify and resolve account issues that create roadblocks to achieving SEO goals.

• Prepare presentation-style reports and present findings to clients as needed.

• Continuously optimize account activities to achieve business goals.

• Document successes and create case studies to showcase campaign wins.
  

Team Management & Development

• Lead and mentor a team of SEO specialists and analysts.

• Support skill development and training initiatives to maintain high-performing team outputs.

• Ensure team activities align with client objectives and project timelines.
  

Budget & Project Management

• Monitor project budgets and campaign profitability.

• Provide strategic guidance on resource allocation and client priorities.
  

Qualifications Experience

• 5+ years of SEO experience.

• 2+ years of experience in a management role.

• Proven track record of client retention and campaign success.

• Experience managing teams and developing SEO talent.

• Experience in legal, medical, or dental marketing is preferred.

• Familiarity with Claude is nice, but experience with other LLMs is perfectly fine.
  

Qualifications Skills

• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data into actionable insights.

• Comfortable working with AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude to support research, ideation, and workflow efficiency.
