Role Description:
We’re seeking a highly consultative and strategic Inventory Placement Program (IPP) Success Manager to accelerate adoption, increase retention, and deliver long-term customer value within our existing merchant base. In this role, you’ll partner closely with Merchant Success Managers to influence decisions, solve complex challenges, and ensure program success.
The ideal candidate will have deep product and program expertise with a relationship-driven approach. You’ll lead consultative engagements, translate data into actionable insights, and operationalize success frameworks that deliver customer outcomes. This role reports to Senior Manager, Merchant Success.
What you’ll do:
- Own the commercial growth and onboarding of IPP within the base of existing ShipBob merchants, partnering closely with Merchant Success and Revenue account team members to influence and close IPP expansion opportunities.
- Develop frameworks, data tracking, and enablement resources to be scaled across the Merchant Success Team that define and support management of successful IPP implementation into core servicing motions – including goal tracking, early-warning mechanisms, and clear escalation paths.
- Lead consultative merchant engagements by translating complex operational data into clear, actionable recommendations tied to quantified cost savings, margin impact, service-level improvements, and ROI.
- Engage with detailed analytical models to evaluate inventory placement scenarios, forecast outcomes, quantify ROI, and support merchant decision-making.
- Partner with MSMs to prepare for and lead commercially complex, high-stakes merchant conversations, including business reviews, pricing discussions, renewals, escalations, and expansion motions.
- Analyze merchant performance, historical trends, and network data to identify IPP opportunities and proactively surface risks to adoption or retention.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including Supply Chain and Product to serve as the voice of the merchant to remove blockers, refine program execution, and improve merchant outcomes.
- Track and forecast IPP pipeline, adoption, and performance metrics with precision, ensuring strong revenue hygiene, accurate forecasting, and leadership visibility.
- Develop repeatable frameworks, enablement, and best practices that scale IPP knowledge across the Merchant Success Organization – embedding IPP into overarching servicing strategy and positing the program as a critical level for efficiency and cost savings.
- Other duties/responsibilities as necessary.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- 7+ years of experience in consultative program management or strategic client engagement within fulfillment, supply chain or logistics.
- Advanced Excel skills required, including complex formulas, scenario modeling, and analysis.
- Proven track record partnering with cross-functional teams to influence outcomes without direct authority.
- Deep consultative-style commercial acumen with the ability to diagnose customer needs and translate them into tailored program strategies that drive adoption and retention.
- Strong executive presence and comfort engaging with senior stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to inspire confidence and make complex ideas simple to understand.
- Familiarity with inventory distribution, fulfillment, or replenishment planning is a plus (knowledge of IPP a bonus!).
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in ambiguity while building structure where it doesn’t yet exist.
