This contract role focuses on establishing and scaling a design system based on an existing visual language. The scope includes translating a defined design direction into a robust, reusable, and production-ready system that can be consistently applied across multiple products.
You’ll work hands-on with structure, components, documentation, and adoption, partnering closely with engineering to bring the system to life and improve product quality and delivery speed.
This is a short term role, between 3-6 months and Part time.
Translate an existing visual language into a scalable, maintainable design system
Build and maintain reusable UI components, patterns, and variants
Define and document component usage, states, and behaviors
Partner closely with engineers to align Figma components with production code
Help establish and refine design ↔ engineering workflows (Figma ↔ Storybook)
Audit existing products to identify inconsistencies and system gaps
Ensure consistent implementation across products through guidance and design reviews
Support product teams by extending the system as new use cases emerge
3+ years of experience as a Product Designer or Design Systems Designer
Proven experience building or operationalizing a design system
Strong understanding of component-based design and UI architecture
High attention to detail and visual consistency
Familiarity with design tokens and theming concepts
Experience scaling design systems across multiple products or teams
Strong collaboration experience with engineering partners
Comfort working within established brand and visual constraints
Excellent documentation and communication skills
Experience with Storybook or similar component libraries
Background in data-heavy, platform, or B2B products
