The Product Owner serves as the primary connection between customers, product, and delivery teams, translating business needs into clear, actionable product outcomes. This role shapes and prioritizes the product backlog, ensuring features and user stories are well-defined, aligned to the roadmap, and ready for development. By guiding design, refinement, and delivery activities, the Product Owner helps teams build solutions that balance customer value, technical quality, and business priorities.
Responsibilities
- As a Product Owner, you will be responsible for the following in your Product domain:
- Act as the liaison between the client and Product, Software Engineering, Delivery, and Account Management, driving various activities throughout the SDLC, including Discovery, Design, Refinement, and steeping the product development team during Development
- Create features & user stories that convey the expected outcome to the product development team
- Collaborate on and bring the product roadmap to life; maintain and prioritize the product backlog
- Additional Key Responsibilities include:
- Maintain a sprint-ready product roadmap, balancing new features, defects, and resolution of tech debt
- Translate product roadmap items into features, leading design creation and documentation of product requirements and user stories. Lead story refinement sessions. Align all stakeholders to a common goal and understanding.
- Own and drive the creation and integrity of the product backlog
- Provide direction on development priorities, scope, and user experience for the squad(s), ensuring they line up with the business priorities and product roadmap and vision. Articulate how product solutions and approaches align with and contribute to business outcomes. Align on prioritization with client and/or Account Management.
Capabilities
- Self-starter; driven and able to act autonomously
- Reliable partner, proven history of building and maintaining relationships internally and/or externally – strong communication, and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable interacting and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Good communication skills and ability to present to and communicate effectively with key stakeholders across product, engineering, data, design, and account management
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in software product development, including 2+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Manager of digital systems or applications or related experience. Experience working with Content Management Systems, Digital Signage or Retail/Restaurant technology is a plus.
- Knowledge of Scrum and Agile Software Development Methodology.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or Engineering – advanced degree preferred
