Opportunity Overview
Handshake is seeking experienced Ophthalmologists to support AI research through flexible, hourly contract work. This is not a traditional full-time clinical role. Youβll use your real-world ophthalmology experience to evaluate AI-generated content and provide feedback that helps AI better understand ophthalmic concepts, workflows, and professional medical language in general, non-patient-specific contexts.
This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity that can be done alongside your primary employment.
Who This Is For
This project is designed for professionals who are already working (or have recently worked) in roles such as:
Ophthalmologist (comprehensive or subspecialty, including retina, glaucoma, cornea, pediatrics, oculoplastics)
Consultant or Attending Ophthalmologist
Academic Ophthalmologist combining clinical practice with teaching or research
This is not a traditional full-time role. Youβll apply once and, if qualified, be considered for part-time, project-based work as new projects become available.
What Youβll Do
This project involves using your professional experience as an Ophthalmologist to design job-related questions and review AI-generated responses for accuracy, clarity, and appropriateness in general, non-patient-specific ophthalmology contexts.
No prior AI or technical experience is required.
Qualifications
Weβre looking for established professionals with:
4+ years of post-training professional experience practicing ophthalmology
Hands-on experience diagnosing and managing eye conditions, performing ophthalmic procedures, and communicating clinical information to patients or other clinicians
Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
Comfortable working independently and following written guidelines
Professional judgment, reliability, and a high standard of discretion and confidentiality, especially with sensitive or proprietary information.
