Accountabilities:
- Collect, process, validate, and analyze spatial data from multiple sources, including satellite imagery and public or private databases.
- Ensure the quality and consistency of geospatial data and products by conducting appropriate audits and verifying compliance with established standards.
- Develop high-quality cartographic products and thematic maps according to project requirements and methodological guidelines.
- Interpret satellite imagery to support land-use and land-cover classification, monitoring activities, and the generation of geospatial alerts.
- Provide technical support to other teams in the use of GIS tools, systems, and methodologies.
- Prepare technical manuals, presentations, reports, and documentation covering project progress, analytical results, and monitoring activities.
- Develop and deliver technical training to help teams improve their use of tools, systems, and project methodologies.
- Identify opportunities to improve monitoring and production workflows, providing constructive feedback and recommendations to leadership.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while managing multiple priorities and maintaining delivery quality and deadlines.
- Act as a technical reference when appropriate, supporting knowledge sharing and positively influencing the development of the team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or technologist qualification in Cartographic Engineering, Forestry Engineering, Surveying Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geoprocessing, Geography, Biology, or a related field.
- Advanced knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and practical experience working with geospatial data.
- Experience interpreting satellite imagery for land-use and land-cover classification.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a structured approach to evaluating geospatial information.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate technical information clearly with different stakeholders.
- Strong organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous demands and meet deadlines.
