Position Overview
We are seeking a Video Editor & Creative Partner who understands that world-class editing isn't about flashy transitions—it’s about making complex ideas unforgettable. In this role, you will work directly on the personal brand of Shane Melaugh, an entrepreneur and educator building a platform for ambitious leaders. Your mission is to take Shane’s existing educational "DNA" and evolve it into a high-end "Masterclass" format. You will be the architect of the visual landscape, ensuring that even the most dense explanations remain clear, engaging, and authoritative.
Our Philosophy: Clarity Over Stimulation
Most of YouTube is a race to the bottom of the attention span. We are doing the opposite. We value deep comprehension over flashy transitions. While the rest of the world optimizes for the "click," we optimize for the "lightbulb moment." If you are an editor who finds beauty in structure, pacing, and visual storytelling that respects the viewer's intelligence, you’ll fit right in.
Your Creative Mandate
- Architect Structure: You will use clear chapter headings and progressive lists (e.g., "1 of 3") to frame deep-dive contexts.
- Visual Synthesis: You will turn simple sketches and abstract frameworks into professional, tactile illustrations and animations.
- Masterclass Pacing: You will craft dense, high-energy hooks followed by a pacing that feels like a high-level masterclass.
- Deliberate Execution: You will reserve punch-ins for "Aha!" moments and use text overlays exclusively to "bold" thesis statements.
Our Aesthetic: Grounded, Tactile, Minimal
- While we admire high production standards, we are intentionally moving away from the hyper-digital "Y2K" aesthetic. Instead, we are building a brand that feels:
- Grounded: Authentic and human, not over-engineered.
- Tactile: Visuals that feel physical and "real" rather than purely CGI.
- Minimalist: High-end through simplicity and intentionality.
- Transparent: We value the integrity of the message—we’d rather see a clean jump cut than a forced zoom used just to mask a transition.
The Ideal Candidate
- The Anti-"Dopamine" Editor: You understand why we avoid flashy sound effects and meaningless visual stimulation.
- The Educator’s Eye: You can identify the "thesis" of a segment and know exactly when to reveal a visual aid to match the narration.
- Metaphor Master: You use B-roll only when it clarifies a metaphor or provides essential context—never as "wallpaper."
Requirements & Benefits
- Must-Haves: Experience turning abstract concepts into diagrams/graphs and a portfolio that demonstrates structural clarity.
- Compensation: 60-70K (with flexibility based on experience).
- Perks: Fully remote, 13th-month pay, and HMO.
